Hi,

This is just a thread idea I came up with - if you find a song you want to dedicate to someone - could be someone on WP or even someone you know - pop it in here.

I'll start by dedicating a song to just-me - may you find a way out of your situation like this young man did, but take everything you'll ever need with you, because you might not be able to come back.

Genesis - No Son Of Mine
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWu5HLFQCmE

Well the key to my survival
Was never in much doubt
The question was how I could keep sane
Trying to find a way out
Things were never easy for me
Peace of mind was hard to find
And I needed a place where I could hide
Somewhere I could call mine

I didn't think much about it
Until it started happening all the time
And soon I was living with the fear everyday
Of what might happen that night
I couldn't stand to hear the crying
Of my mother; and I remember when
I swore, that would be the last they'd see of me
And I never went home again

They say that time is a healer
But all my wounds are not the same
I rang the bell with my heart in my mouth
I had to hear what he'd say

He sat me down and talked to me
He looked me straight in the eyes
And he said

You're no son, you're no son of mine
You're no son, you're no son of mine
You walked out, you left us behind
And you're no son, you're no son of mine

Oh his words, how they hurt me
I'll never forget it
And as the time, it went by
I lived to regret it

You're no son, you're no son of mine
Oh, where should I go, and what should I do?
You're no son, you're no son of mine
I came here for help, oh I came here for you

Well the years, they passed so slowly
I thought about him everyday
What would I do if we passed on the street?
Would I keep running away?
In and out of hiding places
Soon I had to face the fact
We'd have to sit down and talk it over
And that would mean going back

They say that time is a healer
But all my wounds are not the same
I rang the bell with my heart in my mouth
I had to hear what he'd say

He sat me down and talked to me
He looked me straight in the eyes
And he said

You're no son, you're no son of mine
You're no son, you're no son of mine
You walked out, you left us behind
And you're no son, you're no son of mine

Oh his words, how they hurt me
I'll never forget it
And as the time, it went by
I lived to regret it

You're no son, you're no son of mine
Oh, where should I go, and what should I do?
You're no son, you're no son of mine
I came here for help, oh I was looking for you

You're no son, you're no son of mine
You're no son of mine

I dedicate the song "Dearest" by Ayumi Hamasaki to the person I'm in love with.

No one will ever see this side reflected. And if there's something wrong, who would have guessed it...?
And I have left alone everything that I own.
To make you feel like it's not too late.
It's never too late.

Even if I say "It will be all right,"
still I hear you say you want to end your life.
Now and again we try to just stay alive.
Maybe we'll turn it around,
'cause it's not too late.
It's never too late...

Breeze still carries the sound
Maybe I'll disappear
Tracks will fade in the snow
You won't find me here

Ice is starting to form
Ending what had begun
I am locked in my head
With what I've done
I know you tried to rescue me
Didn't let anyone get in
Left with a trace of all that was
And all that could have been

Please
Take this
And run far away
Far away from me
I am
Tainted
The two of us
Were never meant to be
All these
Pieces
And promises and left behinds
If only I could see
In my
Nothing
You meant everything
Everything to me
Gone fading everything
And all that could have been

Please
Take this
And run far away
Far as you can see
I am
Tainted
And happiness and peace of mind
Were never meant for me
All these
Pieces
And promises and left behinds
If only I could see
In my
Nothing
You meant everything
Everything to me

I already have.

www.myspace.com/gazhughessolo

'Still Be Around.'

I don't see you through the windshield
I don't see you in faces looking back at me
Alcohol doesn't have much that matters to say
Can't imagine where you and all the time to kill will stay

When the bible is a bottle and a hardwood floor is home
When morning comes twice a day or not at all
If I break in two will you put me back together?
When this puzzle's figured out will you still be around
To say you've just been there
Walking the line, upside down

I've walked and breathed many a cancerous mile
Where the bat of an eye is too slow to beat the coffin
They can't tell it on the TV
They can't say it on the radio
They pay to move it off the shelf and into our minds
'Till you can't tell the truth though it's right in front of your eyes

When the bible is a bottle and a hardwood floor is home
When morning comes twice a day or not at all
If I break in two will you put me back together?
When this puzzle's figured out will you still be around
To say you've just been there
Walking the line, upside down

Who wants to live forever, by Queen. For all of us who have been "impossibly" in love.

Theres no time for us
Theres no place for us
What is this thing that builds our dreams yet slips away
From us

Who wants to live forever
Who wants to live forever....?

Theres no chance for us
Its all decided for us
This world has only one sweet moment set aside for us

Who wants to live forever
Who wants to live forever?

Who dares to love forever?
When love must die

But touch my tears with your lips
Touch my world with your fingertips
And we can have forever
And we can love forever
Forever is our today
Who wants to live forever
Who wants to live forever?
Forever is our today

Who waits forever anyway?

Here's to that which we wish was real and the relationships which never quite happened.

Sorry if I sound cheesy. I'm trying to be quasi-poetic, and I'm tired. Not a very good combination.
