Nope, no room for TV or radio stations in my head. It's already full of hundreds of car license plates as well as a lot of telephone, account, and serial numbers. 
Looks like you're new here. Welcome! What's with the username? An obsession with time maybe? If so, we do have that in common. |

WSFA Channel 12-NBC
WAKA Channel 8-CBS
WNCF-Channel 32-ABC
WCOV-Channel 20-FOX

WAGA-CBS (now Fox)

I can remember all the TV stations I have access to, because I only have five of them. Seven, Nine, Ten, ABC and SBS.

I know all the #s in all the cities I live in (which would be 3 if you count the campus as a seperate one as it has differnt #s, and 4 if you count my grandparents place but I only know the important ones there) but the letter initals I never memorize.

At one time, I had all the TV stations along the I-10 corridor between New Orleans and Houston memorized. I don't know why I did this, I just did. I remember a few of them, but not all.
Parents thought I was a TV junkie when I was a kid, even though I don't think that was the case.

Radio especially. Thats my life.
Calls, Frequencies, Format, Past formats/names, Slogan/Positioner, Owners, many different markets, Power Outputs, dates of format switches, etc etc etc. People in school used to come up to me and ask me about stations and stuff like that mostly as a way to get a quick laugh.
By the way, if your username says anything about you, grab a shortwave radio and check out my pals:
WWV Fort Collins 2,500 5,000 10,000 15,000 20,000 KHZ
WWVH in Hawaii (Uses a couple of the above)
CHU Ottawa 3,330 7,335 14,670 KHZ

I've been interested in shortwave radio for many years. I first got interested in it over 20 years ago. I used to listen to all sorts of stuff, even communist propaganda from Radio Moscow and the rest of Eastern Europe. It was alot of fun to hear. I always set my clocks my WWV too.
I later got my ham radio license, and got to talk to people all over the world too. I'm not as active in these things as I once was, but still do them from time to time.
I faced alot of ridicule over my interest in shortwave radio when I was in school. I once thought it would be a great topic for a paper and it got me an A, but my teacher also read it aloud in class, which brought on the ridicule. I didn't understand what was so wrong with having that interest but on the other hand, NTs don't make sense to me anyway.

- Late 1992 - Present : Oldies
WQTC 102.3 FM
- 1965 to 1992: Rock (local)
- 1992 to 1998: Pop (syndicated)
- 1998 to present: Rock (syndicated)
WCUB 980 AM - Country
WOMT 1240 AM
Local programing 5am to 12am - Till about 1993
Local programing 5am to ~ 7pm - 1993 to present (except for sports)
Syndicated programming over night.
WOMT has had several different syndicators for over night programming over the years. The first one I can remember lasted up until 1992 when WQTC went to syndicated programming. For about 7 years, over night programming on WQTC and WOMT were the same. Then in 1999, WOMT got it's current syndicator which it has now.
TV stations
WBAY channel 2 - 1953
WFRV channel 5 - 1965
WLUK channel 11 - 1971
WBGA channel 26 - 1980
WXGZ channel 32 - 1985 to 1992
WACY channel 32 - 1994

I tend to remember the station numbers which I frequent, rarely the letters though.
Nickelodeon- 32
Animal Planet- 58
Turner Classic Movies- 60
A&E- 110
BBC America- 113
The Science Channel- 117
I'd have way more memorized but I don't have cable so I have to take what I can get over at my mother's house. These are the channels (except for Nick) which she doesn't mind. Nickelodeon I have to sneak in when she's not there or busy doing something else.

Agreed. I can also remember all the radio stations I've previously/currently bother to listen to. But I don't think that is awfully hard to do because everytime they talk they say "blah blah <insert radio station here>" so it's repetitive enough to remember it without effort. There are only about 6 radio stations I know the frequencies of. Well, hmm.. 1 radio station changes frequency when you get out of the metro area and it changes to a frequency used by a station within the metro area. So it's kind of like remebering 3 but it only counts as 2? I dunno.

None of these channels would have call letters. Call letters are only required for stations that broadcast over the public airwaves. In the United States, station callsigns can start with K, W, A, or N (for some reason N or A are never used, and A must be followed by a letter from A to L), and can consist of three letters, four letters, or a letter followed by a two or three digit number representing the channel followed by two more letters (e.g. W48CE on channel 48 or K204GG on channel 228, a.k.a. 93.5 FM).
In Canada, callsigns must start with CF, CG, CH, CI, CJ, CK, CY, CZ, VA, VB, VC, VD, VE, VF, VG, VO, VX, VY, XJ, XK, XL, XM, XN, or XO. CB is allocated to Chile, but you may notice that CB is also used in Canada for CBC stations (e.g. CBLT). Typically TV and radio stations only use CF, CH, CI, CJ, or CK. A few stations in Newfoundland use VO, and amateur and some low-power stations use ones that start with V. For example, a now-illegal TV station in Toronto was called VX9AMK. Most callsigns in Canada are four characters long, although there are some three-letter stations owned by the CBC (CBX in Edmonton) as well as a couple stations in Manitoba (CKX-TV in Brandon). The CBC also has some five-letter stations, but they all end in "T" and are typically French stations, e.g. CBOFT.
Mexico, which allows callsigns starting with XA, XB, XC, XD, XE, XF, XG, XH, XI, 4A, 4B, 4C, 6D, 6E, 6F, 6G, 6H, 6I, and 6J, typically has callsigns ranging from 3 to 5 characters, with 5 characters being very common. XEW-TV is one of the major stations in Mexico City. Just across the border from San Diego is XHUPN-TV. |
