I want to see them live, but I live in a rather remote area, and I don't have a drivers liscense. But they are awesome! And Brian is sooooo beautiful. *sighs* _________________ Check out my DIY "gothic" fashion website www.freewebs.com/edwardviolahands !

Wow, I saw that band years ago (2003 or 2004, I think?) in Boston when they were just another local band. I was impressed at their show, but then I put on one of their records while I was at work (record store). I had to switch to a different CD after the first song because it was so, um, not my taste. Too melodramatic or something . . . I'd have to hear the CD again to explain why I found it so off-putting.
But then I traveled down to Providence a week later and saw them again. I think they opened for Rasputina, another band that is pretty inconsistent with my taste in general but was kind of interesting live, at least back then.
I had a Dresden Dolls shirt that someone gave me as a gift at the first show I went to. Then a couple of years ago, I wore it to work, mostly just because I liked the logo and assumed no one in Texas would have heard of them. Someone actually laughed at me and said, "You like that Hot Topic band? That's like what my little sister listens to!"
I was completely shocked that they had become well-known outside the Boston area, let alone become a "Hot Topic band", but it's not surprising, given the way their records sound. I thought their stage show was gimmicky but cute back then when they were obviously normal people with day jobs - I can only imagine what it's like now!

I love them. Their first album's my favorite; I'm not really into "No, Virginia." "Yes Virginia" has some great songs though. BACKSTABBAH BACKSTABBAH BACKSTABBAH! And of course "Sing."
I'm suffering from the temptation to declare Coin-operated Boy my theme song, but I don't like some of the implications...um...yeah... _________________ Check out my DIY "gothic" fashion website www.freewebs.com/edwardviolahands !

I like them. Their music is original and catchy, makes me smile everytime I hear it. The way they bring it makes it more special: their whole set, the atmosphere of their shows, the way how they let the audience actively participate in their shows ... they're not your average band but I like their concept a lot. I hope to hear more of them soon, hopefully Amanda Palmer's solo record is not putting the Dolls on hold.
PS: check the parody "Beer activated girl", it is really funny and both Brian and Amanda have outed their approval and appreciation of the parody. _________________ Keep it flaming your desire, always rising high, aim for stars and hit the sky!

The lyrics sound a bit stereotypical of males but I guess it is one big sarcasm so I don't mind it. I like this song.
"All I know is that all around the nation
the girls are crying, the boys are masturbating"
Great lyric
Amanda Palmer looks quite sexy in this video, not really the photo model type of sexyness but her charisma is top. _________________ Keep it flaming your desire, always rising high, aim for stars and hit the sky!
