Too late now, but shouldn't this be in the Random Discussion area? Since when has being from Texas had anything to do with general autism discussion? No disrepect yo you all (or should that be y'all? :) ), just wondered.

I'm a Brit, now living in California, but I've visited TX a couple of times (Houston, Dallas, Texarkana) and apart from teh humidity, I rather liked it.

This thread is fine where it is...we are folks on the spectrum who live in the same area who are talking about having a meetup...There are other sections where it would fit just as easily, but it certainly isn't disturbing the other threads.....it's not like we are here talking about the many virtues of our pet goldfish or something as random as that......

and I never use the word y'all

Texas, huh? Is that a... uh... safe place to live with Aspergers or Autism?
I mean; I'm Australian - I've never visited, so I wouldn't know, but isn't the Texan stereotype that of extremely religous white socially backwards xenophobic christians? Probably not true for all Texans, I'd think, but is there any truth to that at all?

That stereotype isn't anything like Austin. As a matter of fact, our city slogan is keep Austin weird.

Yeah, I've heard that about Austin, and I've seen the bumper stickers with that slogan.

But Houston is starting to become that way as well.

Houston has always been pretty darn weird...if you know where to look....it is a more twisted sorta weidness...not the in-your-face hipster weirdness of Austin...We are sorta like Austin's fatter uglier sister....but there is depth and charm to us yet...

What would be considered twisted?
