I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome today. I am currently studying to become a social worker. I am not sure what I want to do specifically within social work, but I enjoy the research aspect of it. I have a couple of questions. The first one is if anyone knows of what type of person to go to for skills training? Also, does anyone have problems with bluntness? If so, what have you done to be less blunt, since that is one thing that can get in the way of friendships.

welcome tbone
If I can be blunt - lol - make a separate post in "social skills ..." or "members only"
a lot of members don't often look here. _________________ I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in.

| Oh yeah, blunt. What have I done? Um, tried to respond less often and give myself more time to think. Have I been successful? Honestly, I don't know. You would have to ask the people around me. |

Hi and welcome tbone
First "skills training?" was not sure what you meant by this, but the best life training ever for me has to be real life situations, we all learn and grow.
Its hard enough not always fitting in, but to be told how to act helps no one. We need to learn to embrace our differences and allow ourselves to be who we truly are. Conforming only brings frustration, everyone has to learn to get along. I can be a little blunt, but knowing the effect then tend not to be... live and learn seems to work for me. _________________ "Believe in your self, we are who we are - as it can feel like an endless task trying to be someone else!" Welcome.
The best way to avoid bluntness (in a bad way) is to think about what the other person would think about what you are about to say. _________________ "If you can't explain something to a six-year-old, you really don't understand it yourself." -Einstein
