I keep hearing of this concept that is personality, but what on earth is it?
And how does everyone know what everyone's personality is? I don't understand. |

Personality involves your usual mental and emotional reactions to events in life. When something goes wrong do you withdraw?, tantrum?, get angry?, get depressed?, get violent?, get excited about problem solving? Your reaction is part of your personality.
Some people have cheerful personalities: they seldom let anything bother them and they smile easily. Some people have shy personalities. |

I see, I feel like I should have learned this in elementary school, I just feel kinda dumb not knowing. People describe me as "too serious" So I guess thats me. _________________ The breaking of a wave cannot explain the whole sea. |

I thought personality was how you act eg. nice, mean. What you like and don't like, what you enjoy doing. _________________ http://www.factcheck.org/

I do that too! I also freeze and go blank when asked to describe anyone else's personality. Categorization confuses me when applied to human beings, and I'm not even sure I'm interpreting people's personalities right. (Are you even supposed to interpret someone's personality? Or is it just.. there?) |

When you say a person is mean, you are describing part of their personality.
per·son·al·i·ty (pûrs-nl-t)
n. pl. per·son·al·i·ties
1. The quality or condition of being a person.
2. The totality of qualities and traits, as of character or behavior, that are peculiar to a specific person.
3. The pattern of collective character, behavioral, temperamental, emotional, and mental traits of a person: Though their personalities differed, they got along as friends.
4. Distinctive qualities of a person, especially those distinguishing personal characteristics that make one socially appealing: won the election more on personality than on capability. See Synonyms at disposition.
5.
a. A person as the embodiment of distinctive traits of mind and behavior.
b. A person of prominence or notoriety: television personalities.
6. An offensively personal remark. Often used in the plural: Let's not engage in personalities.
7. The distinctive characteristics of a place or situation: furnishings that give a room personality.

Personality is the way you commincate with someone else.
If someone is mean and rude then they have a bad personality.
If someone is nice and polite then they have a good personality.
If someone tells jokes and makes people laugh then they have a funny personality, etc.. |

| Personality is the way that you are determined to be by other people. A person can come off one way to one and another way to someone else. It depends on what mood the person may be in at the time. |

think of it this way: if someone had no personality he'd be catatonic and wouldn't move at all. Personality is what animates you. _________________ I will NEVER become arrogant. After all, that's what a normal person would succumb to in my situation. |
