When is someone an Aspie and when Autistic?
And what are you? And how do you know? _________________ So-called white lies are like fake jewelry. Adorn yourself with them if you must, but expect to look cheap to a connoisseur. |

I think I'm an aspie, but I am undiagnosed. However, some of my traits have disappeared since I became an adult. _________________ At my best I am morbid, politically incorrect, and dirty minded. But it is all in good humor. |

| I've been given 50/50 on being an Aspie or not.. Aspie vs Autie is plainly decided on if you spoke before the age of 2.. If you didn't, then you're Autie.. if you did, then you're Aspie. |

I've heard 3 years. Since the only thing that technically separates AS and HFA is the speech delay, it is possible for an autie to be higher-functioning than an aspie. _________________ WP doesn't have a working first amendment.

I think I'm more of an autie than an aspie. _________________ "So whenever you see a shooting star, be proud of who you really are. Do what your heart feels is right, and you too shall become an Arabian Knight" - Tack from "Arabian Knight (AKA The Thief and the Cobbler)" |

I really don't believe there is a dividing line. I hear of people with speech delay who later turn out to have less pronounced features. Other folks have little or no delay and then have strong features. Certainly researchers like Atwood and Baron-Cohen, claim that there is no split. It is the autism spectrum after all. Just like there is no dividing line between red and orange, there doesn't seem (to me at least) to be a dividing line between Aspie and Autie.
We should instead be discussing the strength of our particular features and how well we use them or overcome their drawbacks. |

Generally, I know I have a PDD. Certain.
Beyond that... I'm a little bit of everything.
AS features + features of kanner's? Like, 50:50?
Too confusing. Whenever someone posts an in-depth different between HFA and AS, I have 50% of both descriptions in everyday life.
PDD-NOS in the US and maybe in the UK. Asperger's where I live.
I should change for other spectrum disorder in my profile. I stopped to bother. I wish we had a general 'ASD' option that includes AS.
Actually, I would prefer 'Sora-disorder'. I'd be very happy with that. _________________ AS/HFA + ADHD

In process... I feel that AS fits better with my developmental criteria.

| I didn't see an option for PDD-NOS, so I voted in between. That's my official diagnosis as I have both autie and aspie traits and don't fit "neatly" into either category. |

Not sure.
A bit of both, really:
All-encompassing obsession; an "aspie" thing
the rest of the repetitive behaviours; an "autie" thing
Socially passive to aloof; an "autie" thing, but overly formal on the 'net, which is an "aspie" thing
Since I meet...each point of Autistic Disorder from a clinician, albeit with "high-functioning" written next to it; I guess I'm officially "Autistic". There's a big overlap between HFA and AS; the former just [usually] has more things attached, but the symptom severity needn't be more severe in the former compared to the latter. |
