Emo is too broad a term. Form what I gather, anything remotely depressing or saddening is Emo. And Dark Wave is just a bunch of losers trying to make something sound cool regardles of how good or bad it is.

saddening or depressing is usually the new-age pop version of emo type stuff. im referring to the music that stemmed off of DC Hardcore and therefore formed emotional hardcore in the 80s, aka "emocore".

the lyrics are emotional, and it had a different vocal style than the other hardcore bands of the time. however, it does not talk about cutting wrists, blacking eyes, highschool breakups, etc. Wink

Beefeater, Egghunt, and Fugazi can also be considered Emocore.

Personally, I like the first Beefeater CD, as well as the first two by Fugazi.
