I was pissed enough that IYA includes ASPIRES, a "Support" group that runs a "couples" list that is devoted to male-AS spouse bashing.

Then, there is the IAY habit of censuring all posts that offer any disagreement.

But now, they proudly welcome FAAAS, aka "Families Afllicted with Asperger Syndrome."

The mission and website of FAAAS directly opposes the way I live, advocate, treat my AS spouse, write and worked on a movie. I have withdrawn as a sponsor of IAY and urge you to follow my example.

oh, you are still on the list tho... ouch. what the h**ll are AS mentoring programs??
can't we just have our own organisation, that would be better i think. international even. and then WE could arrange all the conferences and seminars, and the parents and professionals could beg to come in the door.

I hope they will get caught up and remove me. They said they would.

I don't know. My group is starting a volunteer program to share experiences with younger AS people and get advice from people where we need it.

good idea: let me know as soon as you have it ready to go and I will join Smile

FAAAS was asked to leave IYA today. I rejoined as a sponsor. I guess my emails got something going.

IYA = International Year of Asperger. The group runs a yahoo-group devoted to listing activities to take place next year which marks the 100th birthday of Hans Asperger on February 18, 2006.
