Autism's terrible toll: Parents risk hitting "a breaking point"

The Denver Post turned an article about a thirteen-year-old boy with AS murdered in his sleep by his father into an article blaming autistic children for their parents suffering and their own abuse. The language of the article is just awful: "Jacob became another statistic in a sad, pressure-cooker reality for families with autistic children"; "Autism is a maddening disorder of scrambled brain development that can lead some parents to snap"; "Dads may not understand that the problem is not caused by the mom being too easy on the child."

This made me physically ill reading this. Why is this father getting so much sympathy? He murdered his child. I have no sympathy for him.

I think us autistics should have the right to barbarically torture him. Ill work on poking him repeatedly with IV lines and blowing every vein in sight!

When in doubt, ask an autistic. Chances are, they're obsessed with what you need to know.

that is DISGUSTING! !!
autism is not a maddening disorder! sure it can be hard and rough, but maddening?!?!? :?
"Dads may not understand that the problem is not caused by the mom being too easy on the child."
true... but NOT an excuse for murdering your child, no matter what ethnic group, religious belief, sickness, or disorder they are/have. this man deserves no sympathy, kindness, or empathy whatsoever!
we don't cause others' suffering. those people are just to weak, insecure(possibly), immature, or stubborn to deal with it. it's very hard for us to change, but NOT for NT parents, or NTs in general! so..they(the NTs) need to get over it and stop making us seeem like we're these horrible monsters that cause others(mainly them(NTs)) suffering and trouble. THEY are the "monsters", because they reject us (^most NTs not all are like this although they're rare in my experience), treat us like crap (mainly the teenagers), and discriminate us.

so in short I agree with Ryn

I really do wish that the media would stop printing these kinds of stories in this way. They don't say that what the father said, and did are wrong. The article makes it sound as if his actions were almost understandable, given his circumstances. This opens the door for the public to see any murder of an autistic child as justifiable. There should never be any sympathy awarded for such heinous crimes, spoken, or unspoken.

Clearly it's the parents who are disordered. Perhaps informing people that while they seem rather empathetic over hearing the death of an Autistic child, that these child murderers could go on to murder again. I guess it only matters if an NT child is killed, that's considered a loss, of one of their own. Yes I am rambling on for a lack of anything substantial to say about this.

The world is still a big racist sh*tball. All the races do nothing but compete to be the last alive. That's how this sh*tball works.
