Do you suppose someone could open an Asperger's-themed restaurants, give free Asperger's pamphlets to every incoming customer, and have everything about the restaurant have posters, decorations, etc. relating to Asperger's?

And of course, the flagship-food would be the ASPERGER!! ! (A kind of glutein/casein-free hamburger.) The syndrome does sound like a hamburger, you hear.

Then I guess a more minor burger would probably be the "Hans Ham Sandwich" (named after the researcher.)

Other meals there - I'll leave it up to you to name them something relevant.

(I wouldn't have the skills or capital to found a new restaurant, but someone here might, and I'd like a big part in it, just so long as I don't do the serving of the food. I'd hope to be a PR person, job recruiter, or something or another who is higher-up nonetheless.)

So what do you say? Could an Asperger-themed restaurant ever be a success?

For dessert you can choose the melt-down: a sort of angry warm ice cream

I hope your joking. That's a terrible, terrible idea and if you go through with it your setting yourself up for a terrible failure.

I have no intentions to start such a restaurant, but I'm giving the idea to anyone who may.

Some people make pessimistic statements that may turn out quite the contrary:
Ah_Q, if you had lived in '81, you'd think that "640k ought to be enough for anybody." (what was thought to be Bill Gates's quote)
In '58, "we will NEVER accept homosexuals in society." (many people's assumptions back then)
In 1895, ""Flight by machines heavier than air is unpractical (sic) and insignificant, if not utterly impossible." (Simon Newcomb's quote)
In '77, "There is no reason anyone would want a computer in their home." (Ken Olson's quote)

Unlikely. You're trying to cater to a group of people that consists of less than 1% of the population. Furthermore, your primary customer base has all kinds of different food aversions which would be impossible to address without a huge menu. Most restaurants with huge menus fail - meals are more expensive to make in smaller quantities and take more time.

Just "Asperger," Brook. A burger with the unaltered name.

Don't listen to people who tell you what you can't do. I've heard that so much. You CAN'T do this. You CAN'T do that. Your visions suck, don't do it and then they would talk about something pertaining to their ideas as if mine were somehow conflicting and in competition with theirs.

Just do it.

Make sure it's not very bright though, no flourescent lights.

The main reason why I don't like going to restaurants is because of the bright lights so have to wear shades.

Restaurants have one of the highest failure rates for any type of new businesses, BTW.

It could work in a large city (especially in a liberal city like NYC, San Francisco, or Vancouver).

I don't see all of us ordering the same thing, but I do see many of us having "the usual."
