In a future blog post on Facebook, I want to tell peers that there have been many luminaries with Asperger's - either officially diagnosed or would've been diagnosed had they lived today. I want a bargaining chip for my cases - tell people that my Asperger's makes me an even better person because it made famous people famous in the first place.

Where are those lists, please? Thanks in advance.

Why do people slap any old lable on someone they admire and call it the same DX as they have? I think a lot of the people that are mentioned above have their champions as Asperger's and even more have desputed such a DX at all for them.

About Peter the Great, What evidence exists to suggest that he had AS.

The cutting off of your wife's lover's head and forcing your wife to keep it in a bottle of alcohol could be something which an angry NT man might do. I know that today if you discover your partner is cheating on you, you are not allowed to kill people becuase it is wrong to commit murder.

But years ago if you discovered your wife was cheating on you then a duel was one way some people would deal with it. If a NT man was a brutal king and thus able to get away with it then he might do something like that.

Saying I am a good person even though I have As just because some other great people did is about as convincing as saying that some actor was a Scorpio and since we are born under the same "sign" we are some how "related" in ability . You are not valuable as a person because someone with the same neurology was famous, you are because....? You have to fill in that blank.

Wow.

The first one on that list is a 'murderer'.

Now that's not what I call good publicity.

But besides that, the list is good.

you need to rmember that for many of these people it is a list of suspected Asperger Syndrome.
since many of them are dead, one must rely on accounts/diaries of these peoples lives to make the judgement. This has its limitations due to inaccuracies/misscomprehensions.

I agree with sinsboldly. I'm really not too fond of these speculative lists (and there must be thousands of them out there on the WWW). AS can be a seriously disabling condition, and speculatively applying an AS diagnosis to anyone you admire is only going to make people more sceptical about whether it is a real condition at all.

I'm more interested in finding out about famous people with an official diagnosis, particularly people who are famous for some reason other than their AS, so I'd be more interested in the list buryuntime linked to ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_on_the_autistic_spectrum ) than the one pensieve linked to ( http://www.disabled-world.com/artman/publish/article_2086.shtml ).

Pensieve, to be honest, your list is one of the most baffling I've ever seen. Napoleon?? Elvis?? Shakespeare?? Alexander the Great????

like the way the wiki list begins with- 'murderer'; so comforting. dont think one can back track on people from hisroty and diagnose them.

anyway- my favourite is dan ackroyd (sorry for misspelling, perhaps, dan) whom i like anyway; also rumourded to be are-
speilberg, and bill gates.

anyway, which ever list you look at there are-a- women- and b- non computer geek types- which is what even some 'experts' class as being aspergers.
i was told by one 'expert' i coulndt have it since i hvae- superior language skills, am female and creative, and not IT minded. moron.
it is literally a sepectrum disorder in every sense.
alos- peter tork. cool!

MORE FUN- IS THE PEOPLE SPECULATED list- mozart (he gets diagnosed with everything going) and HITLER!!!! so esteemed company. also hanns anderson- some teutonic trait? discuss.
ALSO- notable from this list-a lot of tehm are rather right wing- enoch powel etc... interesting.

One famous person that I do think had HFA/AS was Einstein. He was always considered eccentric, he was very perseverative in his interests, he learned differently than the other children in his class, and he had a pronounced speech delay. The rest of the people are all speculative, but I do think that Einstein's eccentricity crossed into autistic behavior.

Someone must have REALLY hated people with Asperger's, and happened to have the ammunition (of knowledge) to add a MURDERER to the top of the list!

What notable Aspie had a surname that would come before "Arthurs" in alphabetical order? We NEED to add someone above him so as to not make us look so bad! (First impressions matter most; first items on lists matter too.)
