I use StatCounter for my site www.ptsdinfo.net - I found an entry that says

Number of entries: 3
Location: Baltimore, Maryland, United States
Visit length: 16 seconds
IP address: Social Security Administration (199.173.226.236)
Browser: Rippers 0
OS: unknown
Resolution: unknown

I googled "Rippers 0" and it seems to be something I should block (somehow), as it's stealing my site?

But before I get into all that - my site is an attempt to share everything I know (or think I know) about PTSD - everybody's welcome to steal it or whatever, I only hope they pass it on to people who might find it helpful.

So my question is this: are they hurting my site in some way?

Ripper is probably a scraper

Scraping is an attempt to scrape information from a page that is designed to be read by human. If you make you site more RESTfull it will probably take less the 16 seconds, as it can just get it in the format it needs.

Google bot caches your page, there is many bots crawling about. Some are good others are trawling from emails to spam.

I belive you pm'd me a couple of years ago becuase I have symtoms simular to PTSD, but they are actually caused by cognative problems. Though I don't blame you, you aren't the first to make that link.

I'm sorry if I went into trying-to-be-helpful overdrive like that. I hunted through my stuff but all I found was

Whatever it was, I hope I didn't sidetrack you too badly.

Don't worry about it I'd rather you speak up if you think you spot something, than you didn't. I probably more the exception. :)
