April 5th was the 15th anniversary of Kurt Cobain's tragic suicide. Had he lived, he'd be 42!! !

Personally, I think Kurt should be made some patron saint of suicide. It was because of his death that I spun into a year long exploration of my own depression - which was only the first step towards becoming the person I am today.

I can only imagine how many other screwed up "kids" he's saved - as an example of why suicide sucks - and through his music which remains way more therapeutic than any loser shrink I've ever been to!

Oh, Kurt! 15 years later - we still miss you so much.

I'm not sure how accurate your sentiments are but he was certainly a very talented musician who had more to contribute.

April 5th: The feast day of Saint Kurt of
Generation X. Patron say of desperation
rock-and-roll. *sigh*

Oops, that's patron saint.

Ha ha. ^^

Have you listened to the lyrics of Green Day's Longview lately? Wow. Another great look into the angst of the gen x-er in the early 90's.

A song about (ahem) an unfullfilled existence manifesting itself in compulsive self-gratification.

Ah, such an innocent time. (Waxes nostalgic) 8)

Years later, Green Day sings against war and homophobia and other bummer things. :(

A lot of the problems he had might have gotten better if he'd just laid off the drugs for a while, or cut back. He really didn't have to suicide and thereby make such a loser of himself.

This really is sad. I'm one of those who believe he was murdered. There was a time when I was obsessed with anything he wrote that wasn't on the nevermind album.

He's just one of many reasons why I wish I were a teenager in the 90s instead of the 00s.

I'm still not sure it was suicide, I remember the news reports saying that his autopsy showed there being far too much heroin in his system for him to even be able to lift a shotgun, let alone fire it at himself. It seems plausable that someone else could've pulled the trigger when he was laying there, then put the gun in his hand.

Of the people who I know that do heroin (those who are still alive anyway), I've seen people who couldn't even lift a cellphone after a large enough non-lethal dose.

Yeah - the Foo Fighters will always be like Nirvana's little offspring baby that turned out totally normal and totally awesome. (I LOVE THEM, TOO!! !)

I was a senior in high school when he died, and listening to Nirvana takes me back to that time. I also thought at the time that he was murdered, and that the gun was only put in his hand to look like a suicide.

Druggie loser. But I will say this, if I ended up with Courtney Love for a wife, I'd blow my head off, too.

Definitely talented, but suicide is an as*hole move especially when you leave a daughter behind. There's a movie based on a Stephen King book I saw once- Riding the Bullet. It has a great quote where the devil is trying to convince a kid to kill himself- "You know, they don't appreciate you. Show them how important you are!" I think it's these exact self-centered feelings that mostly cause suicide. The world would be better if he hadn't done it.

Obviously, you've never been depressed.
