I like a lot of the music from some of the more modern Sonic games like Sonic Adventure 1, 2 and Sonic Heroes but I find the original games to have more catchy tunes. I grew up playing them so it's probably because of nostalgia.

"FOLLOW MEEEE, SET ME FREEEEE....TRUST MEEEE & WE CAN ESCAPE FROM THE CITTTYYYY......."....urgh, pile of tosh...sonic 1&2 (the megadrive originals) are where it's at composition wise...green hill zone and chemical plant zone probably being the best....the Mega CD tunes weren't bad either.x
Agreed, sonic adventure 2 has the best music. But i too have never liked city escape like most people do, probably because of the lyrics, and i don't like live & learn either. But the mission street music i SOOOO dreamy

I also think the Sonic 3 mini-boss theme, the Hill Top theme, and the Metropolis theme are all hilarious. There's a part at the end of the Metropolis theme that sounds like Sonic is losing all his rings. _________________ Sixteen essays so far.

Seriously? No Hill Top Zone?
Also:
Almost Dead gets an honorable mention because it's by Powerman 5000 (aka Rob Zombie's brother) When I first recognized his voice it shocked the hell out of me.
I usually listen to the instrumental version of "believe in myself", but right now my favorite is Pleasure Castle from sonic adventure 1, it's so relaxing
