and how are they both different?

My answer:

They're fruit. One is an apple and the other is a banana

A doctor asked me this silly question. Not sure if it should go here or the General forum.

A banana is actually considered a herb, according to something I read.

Maybe the doctor was testing you to see if you were faking your mental condition.

I came upon an article that used a similar question by social service investigators in California.

Quote:
Investigators gave Souphan a standard test of mental function. They asked how apples and oranges are similar. She said she didn’t know. The investigator wrote in his report, “…incorrect responses to such basic questions are often associated with malingering.” In other words, she was faking it.

I have no idea how an aspie would answer it or an NT or someone with MR or ADHD, etc. I have been asking my friends this today and they all have different answers. I just asked my online friend this and he said he doesn't think they are the same and I asked how are they different and he said they are both different fruit. He has AS. I said they were fruit and one is an apple and one is a banana.

I think it's awful what that family is going through. I don't know if they are faking it or not but if they aren't, it's awful what they are going through.

So is that why they ask it, to see if you're faking? XD;
How about "is Superman real?", I got that on a test once, what's that one supposed to tell them?

Oh yeah, and I guess my answer to the question would be:
fruits, duh.
and
You don't eat the banana skin, which makes it sort of opposite the apple, whose core is the part you don't eat. Also, bananas taste awesomest with orange juice while apples taste awesomest with cheese.

and berries are fruit?

whats the strict botanical definition of fruit?
i thought it was simply a seed-vessel, and if so, a banana is a fruit :I

ive had many such a debate w people, cus there are SO many home-definitions of these :D
"strawberries arent a berry theyre a fruit, they arent a fruit theyre a nut, they arent a nut theyre a plant, they arent a plant theyre a vegetable, they arent a vegetable theyre a marsupial" and so on

strictly speaking, theyre probably all of the above, except the last :]

Duh, everyone knows superman is real,
to think otherwise, is to be severely in denial :p

And I'd think that an apple and a banana both being classified as fruit would be what they have in common.

I think I got that question too when I got an IQ test in the local psychiatry. I answered the same.
