Someone once tried to hit me in the face as they were passing by while crossing the street. I wasn't looking at them or making eye-contact; I just saw their arm and dodged. It was very random. They were male, late teens/twenties, and with friends. Those are the only type that attack me.

I think i have to change the way i look at these situations, to see THEM as the idiots, cursed with ignorance.
Avoiding these things in the first place can lead to a fear of people, i know because i have been in a self impossed isolation for the last 3 years, just recently being able to go out again (with the help of prozac)
Why should i change who i am just for some people by supressing myself because doing so just makes me misserable and depressed.

That sucks Sad I sometimes hear people talking behind my back and i pick up a few words(i have a hard time hearing people talk over other noise, so i usually don't pick up much), and i get the impression that they're likely making fun of me or something. I don't know. I think someone might be more likely to make fun of me for my outward appearance(appearing kind of gender ambiguous) than for anything related to AS... Even if i do sometimes get a little confused about things people say. But i think the amount of piercings i have keep people from feeling all that comfortable about actually teasing me face-to-face most of the time Rolling Eyes I think most people think twice about messing with someone who has a 10 gauge ring through the middle of their nose Laughing

I am somewhat paranoid in this regard, believing that everyone is talking about me and snickering. I have since realized, however, that they usually are not, and that they have better things to talk about.

I get insults because of the way I look, when I used to walk back from the bus stop kids from another school always called me "tranny" or "girl with the dick", and when I go places I get random people asking me what sex I am. I find it amusing now, anyway I'm changing my wadrobe to something more feminine anyway.

No, your not the only to be tormented word-wise by people..In fact, I can recall once a bunch of university students whom, must have been in a rush to get somewhere happen to say,"Move out of the way retard." I simply took no notice of the comment but, I'm not saying, it did not bother me for, it did however I try to not let such scenarios tear me apart as a person as, there will always be ignorant, tyrants in this world..

How's that? I don't see a male in his 30's as being a prime target. Maybe the alone part.

Certainly round here, you're in much more danger of this sort of assault here as a young man than any other demographic is. A (vague and by no means universal, but significant) taboo attaches to the young, to older people, and to women in general, but young men are not covered by any protection of taboo.

Yes, this happens to me on a regular basis. I've never been physically assaulted, but being verbally abused by people as I walk past happens about once a week.

This stuff never happens to me, although I live in London so there different types of people. In smaller towns I can understand that events like these could happen since people are more likely to know their neighbors.

Interesting hypothesis on the lack of taboo protecting young men. My assumption for targets would be adolescents and the elderly, but not lone males in their late 20s to 40s, just because of the greater potential for physical violence.

It's always enlightening to see different perspectives though, that's certainly something I don't think would have crossed my mind.

Been insulted, picked at, abused, attacked, sexually harassed, hit, kicked. I have people I barely knew be so horrid to me and later tell me it was because I was a b$%#& to them, though I barely spoke to them. I think it's non verbal cues that we are less of a pack animal. I have been told I seem aloof, reserved, guarded, distrusting by people I know (notice I didn't say friends). More times than I can count I have been kidded about not having friends, this by people who don't really know I don't have friends, but I guess they can tell.

Maybe "they" (the bullies in the world) feel bad about themselves because of the GOOD in us, so they attack. They can tell we won't follow them off a cliff and it throws them.
But I do go on.

Thats generally why they do. Either out of jealousy or they pick on someone they deem inferior (of course this totally untrue) to them to try and make themselves feel better. Bullys generally have more issues than most other people!

This happens to me once in a while. I am 30, but because I look like I am 12 or 14, i get picked on by teenagers. With boys, they say sexual things to me or tell me that I am ugly or stupid. Girls would look at me and start doping weird things with their faces at me or something so mean. both boys and girls start laughing at me and it makes me feel very inferior. i feel very embarrassed, like I do not want to go out or do anything. I try to avoid going out when teenagers are most likely to be out. i also tend to avoid teenage hangouts or places where teenagers typical or heavily populate. I always feel ugly and horrible about myself. I am also bi-racial and I notice it is mostly the white kids. Though I have not been called the N word, but I still when I was younger, I wished that I was one color not both. I always wished that I was more whiter because I lived in a suburb that was strictly white, so this was one of the reasons. Now I live in a city, so i am more comfortable with who I am.

I get honked at a lot. Either that, or they gun their motors, just to give me a scare. Another problem I have is that often, while crossing the street- even when I have the right of way- the oncoming car often speeds up, guns the motor and acts like they want to hit me. But interestingly enough, when I´m walking with someone else- (like an NT)- this NEVER happens. In fact, my friends seem to wonder why I´m so cautious crossing the street.

On a few occasions, I´ve been laughed at by teenagers, or purposely bumped into. I have NO idea why, I was just minding my own business, and I think I look "normal". When I was younger, I was constantly being groped by strange men. This doesn´t happen anymore, I think I´ve finally perfected my glare.
