Today is very boring,
it’s a very boring day,
there is nothing much to look at,
there is nothing much to say,
there’s a peacock on my sneakers,
there’s a penguin on my head,
there’s a dormouse on my doorstep,
I am going back to bed.

Today is very boring,
it is boring through and through,
there is absolutely nothing
that I think I want to do,
I see giants riding rhinos,
and an ogre with a sword,
there’s a dragon blowing smoke rings,
I am positively bored.

Today is very boring,
I can hardly help by yawn,
there’s a flying saucer landing
in the middle of my lawn,
a volcano just erupted
less than half a mile away,
and I think I felt an earthquake,
it’s a very boring day.

I find this funny. Does anyone else?

Yours truly,

Christopher Grills

I love all the visual images - I can look around my house and picture them . . . it is funny because it is ironic . . . to say it is boring with all those things going on . . .

The poem itself makes me think of a Monty Python sketch!

Yes, that's pretty funny. I guess that's kind of how someone who's schizophrenic would experience things.

i had to laugh and laugh - this poem resonates very much with me.

often, when i'm teaching literacy to younger kids, and i say we're going to write a story which is interesting, immediately, they all rush off and write things about aliens landing on the lawn, etc. because they all do it, it's INCREDIBLY boring. (tip for aspiring writers - interesting/engaging/compelling doesn't = dramatic/exciting/action-filled).
