Lol, no, and for the same reasons that I think Raptor cited - he's never going to make it! I'm also hard pressed to think that we're anywhere near as paleo as we were, as a nation, even 20 years ago.

Them's fightin' words! Equating neo-cons to paleoconservatives could be construed as an insult, y'know. Razz

No telling if he's a YEC or an OEC. All I know is he's Catholic and completely bonkers. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he was a card-carrying member of Opus Dei.

Yeah, I specifically said - fewer paleoconservatives or social conservatives than we had 20 years ago, same with the makeup of the Republican party. I speak as a bit of an abstract neocon so maybe that's the confusion.

I think it's pretty interesting that Santorum has consistently lost the catholic vote.

Also interesting that there is no gender division between santorum and romney. I guess republican women don't need rights or health care.

It tells us that there are still a lot of paleos out there who'd see him as the closest thing they can find to what they want on social values, I don't think it tells us in any way that they're increasing in number though.

Actually, his mother, a staunch conservative proponent of laissez faire policies, believed her son should be free to do anything without consideration of the consequences. Thus the son wandered into a designated dancing area where nobody with half a brain would let their children go. Her personal belief in freedom from helping others also added to it, as she believed the only way for her son to learn to help himself (instead of just telling him) was to get kicked in the face by a break dancer

I figured that's what you meant, and I was being somewhat facetious. No offense was taken, since I don't identify as a paleoconservative. Smile

"should be free to do anything without consideration of the consequences" sounds a lot more like the permissiveness liberals are notorious for. Probly told him he had the right to do whatever he wanted and when he got kicked she screeched about the lack of government entity to regulate break dancing.

BTW: "staunch conservative" doesn't quite do it these days. Better to use something like "right wing fanatic" that evokes more paranoia and hand wringing.
