A Few months ago, I saw an episode of X Men the animated series (The 1990s version) on the Internet. I saw the Episode "Enter Magneto". I like the way how the series deals alot with extremism and discrimination. I think I will probably watch more episodes in the Internet. Has any of you seen it?

The X-men animated series from the 90s is AMAZING! I saw most of the episodes when I was much younger and again on Youtube a few years ago. Good episodes are the Phoenix Saga, One Man's Worth, Beyond Good and Evil and Days of Future Past. Definitely watch more of that series if you can!

I was in my early twenties when that series first aired and everybody I knew back then was wathching it. That series was way ahead of its time for an animated series.

I've got volumes 1-3 of the dvd sets.

I think the best stories are "The Phoenix Saga" and "The Dark Phoenix Saga" from season three.

I was and still am a huge fan of this cartoon, it is in fact what introduced me to the X-Men (and to my favourite character, Cyclops).

I hear a lot of people speak kind of negatively about the show now; they say the animation doesn't hold up, the voice acting was wooden, etc. etc.
But I disagree with that. While the animation could be a bit choppy at times, it does stand out among its peer cartoons of the same time period.

My favourite character beside Cyclops was most definitely Storm. My favourite episodes are... dang, this is hard to choose, I love MOST of them! I have a soft spot for the 'Reunion' 2 parter that was the big finale of season 2 (the X-Men vs Sinister and the Savage Land Mutates), I also love 'Cold Comfort' which guest stars Iceman and X-Factor. 'Beyond Good & Evil', I loved it, it had an epic story, and it featured all of the X-Men's greatest enemies as well as allies, which is why it also could have been an awesome final storyline, but afterward, they had to go and create the fifth season, which I'll admit, had its great moments still, but was overall a bit lacklustre compared to the previous episodes.

I completely agree about this show handling the discrimination metaphor really, really well. While it was done hamfistedly and on-the-nose at times, we have to remember that it was a Saturday morning cartoon, for kids... and AS a kid, back then, I felt as though this cartoon was taking me very, very seriously by inserting themes like racism. At first, I didn't FULLY appreciate that aspect of X-Men, but when I rewatched it when I was about twelve or thirteen, I could see stuff in it that made me go "Heyyy... so that's what they were talking about."

Of course, the comic itself had done that already for decades, but I think the cartoon nailed that aspect of the X-Men story.

I think it's awesome, dialouge might be a bit wierd at times, I'm mostly pointing at Storm, did she really have to tell the storm to come in such a sorcerer way.

To think I was actually disappointed when I learned that Storm doesn't speak like that in the comics.

Now, in retrospect, I agree that Storm didn't need that quirk to back-up her weather powers. But when I was watching it as a kid, I considered it a nice touch.

Well I wouldn't know since I've never properly read the comics but sometimes especially the old ones people in comics do talk weird.

It was a great cartoon, I loved Rogue, Phoenix and Gambit. The last couple of seasons were very bad because they switched studios and outsourced to Korea, I think. I probably liked the cartoon more than the comics. Magneto was the best.

X-Men: The Animated Series was great. I liked so many episodes, but I really liked “Days of Future Past” It was the episode which took place in an alternate future. That was a fascinating episode and one of the primary reasons I happen to remember it to this day. Basically, the old X-Men were taken out. (dead, apprehended etc.) What I really liked about it was how it revealed some of the future mutants to also include a brief demonstration of some of their mutant powers. It also presented their continued struggle against those in power who hated the mutants. It revealed further confrontations with the primary anti-mutant weapon/tool; the mutant hunting robots known as sentinels. The sentinels were very much still operational in that alternate future. As if that was not grim enough, the mutants in that particular alternate future had to also contend with the ultimate sentinel which was appropriately named Nimrod. A decent way to describe Nimrod is a highly advanced and basically indestructible hunter robot. Not the typical “tin can” sentinel which most have become accustomed to. When I first saw that episode way back I couldn’t help but think about how hardcore that particular sentinel type was. Seeing it back then was amazing.

Agreed, that was a great 2-parter, and its follow-up, 'The Final Decision', was also very good. 'Days of Future Past' was lifted from arguably one of the greatest Marvel Comics stories ever written; fans are still talking about it, and people keep paying homage to it. That comic also introduced one of my favourite X-Men characters, Rachel Summers (the alternate future daughter of Cyclops and Jean, who doesn't appear in the cartoon version of that storyline, but does make a blink-or-you'll-miss-it cameo in 'Beyond Good And Evil').

I agree that Nimrod is a total badass. Too bad he only made one appearance in the cartoon, but he was pretty scary in it, in the sense that they were unable to destroy him because of his regenerative abilities. The best they could do was temporarily compromise him, and then destroy his temporal bracelet to send him back to the future (heh... BACK... to the FUTURE!! ! :D )
Also, Nimrod is only one of two Sentinels who had been given a name; the other is Master Mold. Seeing as how the Sentinels are mostly a faceless foe without identities of their own, Nimrod and Master Mold have that bit of 'extra' that makes them stand out.
