It is not just the Empire State Building anymore.
Look at all the buildings on the Autism Speaks list.

http://liub.autismspeaks.org/buildings
Don't just look at the map, look at the list.

I am furious! :x
What do you think?

Why does it make you furious? I think it's a non-thing.

Edit - never mind, I just remembered it has to do with Autism Speaks and they are not popular here.

All this symbolic garbage just makes activists feel good about themselves. It's a waste of the color blue. Besides, why is our color blue? Do they think I'm bruised? Should I be blue for having Asperger's?

This. There was an amusing blog I read once entitled "Stuff White People Like" and it was a humourous exaggeration of all the silly things whites/Americans do, like thinking every child is gifted and covering the entire back of their car in bumper stickers. One of the items on the list was "Awareness". Here's the first paragraph and a half:

Quote:
An interesting fact about white people is that they firmly believe that all of the world’s problems can be solved through “awareness.” Meaning the process of making other people aware of problems, and then magically someone else like the government will fix it.

This belief allows them to feel that sweet self-satisfaction without actually having to solve anything or face any difficult challenges. Because, the only challenge of raising awareness is people not being aware.

This interesting because an autistic friend of mine on another forum was talking about how April 2nd is autism awareness day and the color was blue. I'm basically infatuated with blue and was going to do avatars and such in blue for April (avatars I've used before anyways)... but had no idea this was an Autism Speaks thing. Is there any way we can take over Autism Speaks, get rid of their propaganda whatever but keep the blue?

I like blue.

Although I would really like to know why the hate against Autism Speaks, anyone willing to enlighten me? All I know is that they are some sort of (US?) autism organization with the goal to do... something? No idea what exactly they do. :)
