Age: Seventeen, as of now.
Location: Southeastern United States
Hobbies and Interests: Literature, music, art, people, psychology, philosophy, learning, reading, and many other activities along the lines of the former.
Why are you here? This forum is fascinating to me. I thoroughly enjoy reading the various theories about autism, the human mind, relationships, and the plethora of other theories that the members derive at. It felt a bit rude of me to read into the personal lives of these people like reading the lives of characters in a book, so I decided to join the website in hopes of perhaps contributing something to the body of people that has brought me so much amusement and understanding.
Favorite subjects: I have always excelled at and enjoyed anything dealing with literature; English was always a strong subject, as well as Creative Writing. I also enjoy music classes (Four years of band, two years of choir), Spanish, history, and anything that does not require me to perform a large amount of mathematical computations.
Favorite music: Any and every kind, really, barring overly-synthesized "techno/Dubsteb" that is so popular today.
Books: I can read virtually anything and find enjoyment in it, though I adore poetry (especially that of Shakespeare and Emily Dickson--cliche, I'm aware, but they're famous for a reason) and the works of Scot Westerfield.
TV shows/Movies: I am not largely into movies or television.
Instrument: Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Piano/Keyboard, Vocals
Do you like sports? Spectating? I enjoy watching martial arts, figure skating, dancing, and fencing; Performing? I have very little kinetic ability and thus do not usually partake in such activities, though I took dance and figure skating throughout my early childhood and still figure skate regularly enough for me to consider myself to be an amateur figure skater (I do not take lessons anymore; I do, however, learn a few tatics on my own here and there). Is chess considered a sport? If so, then I do participate semi-regularly in this sport (even though the skill is definitely lacking).
Family: Scattered, slightly dysfunctional, yet the best family I could have ever asked for. :0
Clothing: Protective fabric that I wear to shelter myself from the outside environment. Save for a few sentimental pieces of clothing, it is not too much more complicated than that for me.
How did you find this website? This wonderful site comes up fairly easily with any Google search of the words "autism" and "Aspergers".
Job: Poet, Writer, Student, And A Bit Of A Polymath.
Plans for the future? I shall comment on this at a later time; basically, however, it involves creating as much art (literary, drawings, and musical) as I possibly can and making as much as a positive difference on the world and universe we live in as possible.

Why are you here? I came on here to meet more people but I enjoy going around in the forums and being as active as I can.
When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): 9, but I was unaware until I was 15
Favorite subjects: English and Writing classes
Year/Grade: 11th
Favorite music: I've listened to mostly rock music but I'm generally open to any genre as long as I like it.
Books: I'm not much of a reader but I like sci-fi and some fiction books.
TV shows/Movies: I'm not into many but I do like to see movies in theaters occasionally.
Instrument: None currently, but I have played the tenor saxophone in Middle School.
Do you like sports? - I'm not a big sports person but it is interesting to see what goes on in sports on occasion.
Family: Two younger fraternal twin brothers that are two years younger then I am.
Clothing: I've always liked wearing American Eagle clothing.
How did you find this website? By looking up AS on Google. 
Job: Being a student really.
Plans for the future? To contribute to the research field of psychology and be a psychologist in that field.

Favorite subjects: Computers, Pop Science, Music.
Favorite music: Metal, Rock, Indi, Alternative, Ambient House, Dubstep, DnB, Break Beats, Industrial, Electronica, EBM, Goth.
Books: Sci-fi/Fantasy epics (multi-book series) and most Sci-fi - and computer books
TV shows/Movies: Mythbusters, Horizon, Top Gear, most non-b-movie-style/tongue-in-cheek sci-fi (serious sci-fi/opera only) and stuff like Game of Thrones

Location: A polite, liberal city in the USA.
Hobbies and Interests: politics, nature (esp. birding), mysticism, philosophy, history, sci-fi, psychedelics and psychedelic art, bicycling and, of course, the NBA. 
Why are you here? My son is diagnosed AS and 16. I am here to research best options for transitioning out of high-school for him.
When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): Not diagnosed, but it's amazing how many of the fellow dads of my son's friends (which friends are nearly universally AS diagnosed) I find more similar to me than most people I meet otherwise. If that makes you think.. well, nevermind, You get the picture.
Favorite subjects: See hobbies
Favorite music: the passionate kind, the interesting kind and the very well made kind.
Books: Yes, please.
TV shows/Movies: The Baron von Munchausen, Boardwalk Empire, Dead Man, Baraca are some favs, but my taste is pretty wide ranging.
Instrument: no talent 
Do you like sports? Yes, most of them.
Family: big, complicated twenty-first century American rainbow family. Stranger than you could make a movie about, but pretty wholesome in practice.

Why are you here? I have Aspergers, and it helps to know that I can chat with others like me in a civil setting.
When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): 2001 (8 years of age)
Favorite subjects: I have always been intrigued about history. I also have a deep love of art in any form. The only subject I don't like is math. That is why they invented calculators.
Year/Grade: College Grad, CNA certification
Favorite music: I love rock music for the most part. From Ozzy to Avenged Sevenfold, they all make the day seem brighter to me.
Books: Harry Potter, Artemis Fowl, and the Inheritance series.
TV shows/Movies: From reality shows such as Pawn Stars and WWII In Color, to anime such as Bleach and Soul Eater.
Instrument: I used to play a guitar when I was young, but not anymore.
Do you like sports? I love NFL and College Football. MSU fan for life!

Plans for the future? Besides living a normal life? I would like to meet a girl and start a family of my own, but it just seems like a dream most days.
Any comments? Sure. A few interesting things about me - I am legally blind in my right eye. I was born with Amblyopia (lazy eye), and they caught it too late to do surgery. I can keep it from wandering in most cases, but when I get tired it can wander everywhere. Thanks to that I also have about no depth perception, which means I can't drive. It's a hard life, but you live with what you get. |

Went through testing in Middle School, but they said that they could make a definite diagnosis of AS until i was 18 so they said to basically come back and stuck me with PDD-NOS.
