Hello,
I realized that i had Asperger's Syndrome relatively late in life; found at age age 35- bummer! There is a guy who is in a support group I go to for AS. It appears that we have some similar interests; he is interested in history and when I mentioned going to a planetarium show just to learn something new I think it may have sparked his interest a bit. Well, I saw him the other day as he was getting off of a bus and I was waiting for that same bus. He told me that the next two meetings were canceled and I asked him what he was doing and then I blurted something out maybe i shouldn't have. A friend of mine who attends the group gave me the phone number of a man who goes to the support group in case I needed to get in touch with the group leader, as the group leader has no cell phone and this man goes to his house quite a bit. I blurted out "Michael gave me your phone number. Would it be o.k. if I called you sometime?" He said "Yeah." and then left, since I had to get on the bus. I cannot accurately gauge another person's social interest in me, be it for friendship or romance. I think he is a very interesting person and would like to get to know him better. I guess I should just be blunt about it and say I would like to get to know him and I guess if he tells me to get lost that's the way it is. Should I ask him to meet for coffee or lunch? Or should I just ask him what he would like to do? I cannot read people very well so I guess I will have to make a fool of myself. Any suggestions?

Ask him for coffee.
It's kinda low keyed,
and a good way to chat.
Do it. |

| Yeah, ask him out. Go to the planetarium with him. Just be your blunt aspie self. (I sure hope that's good advice.) After all, he's an aspie too. |

| If he said was okay to call...call him. Be tactful but upfront about it. |

An important thing is - even though it may seem obvious - to not sweat over anything... e.g. don't worry too much. _________________ Cool Spot is cooooooooooooooooooool |

Happy memories. My first ever night out with a girl was a trip to a planetarium, you can hold hands underneath the stars and it will never rain.

Also, if phoning up is too daunting and you know his address, you could write him a letter. _________________ Break out you Western girls,

| By gods, just tell him what you want. If he is into it, that will save a lot of time, and if he isn't, it'll save a lot of wondering. If anyone came and said they were interested in ME instead of beating around the bush I'd be quite smitten. |
