The same thing happened to my son. He no longer goes to that school. I wrote a lengthy post about it on here not long ago, but I can't find it right now, and I don't have time to write the whole story again.

No it shouldn't be used,he should have his own 1-1 support if he's a wanderer,can't sit still,whatever reason....those teachers are using torture in a way.
By regular restraining when it isn't needed, it can eventually makes it even worse if ever need restraining for worse or life threatening problems.
They regulary physically restrained am at school and used wooden rulers for hitting with,it was supposed to have been illegal here then [eighties and nineties].
It sounds like that childs' school doesn't want to go through all the work of getting him his own 1-1,chair is easy way.
