no one would ever know that I'm half black. Although, my favorite types of music in order are:
1. Daft Punk
2. Traditional Irish recorder music (go figure)
3. Symphonic rock (like Nightwish)
4. Classical music (since I play classical trumpet and piano)
Nowhere on my top 100 will you see anything related to "black" music, a.k.a. all that rap/hip hop crap. The closest thing to it that I've ever listened to and enjoyed is this: http://kirbyhot.ytmnd.com/

Actually, in the 70s, afros weren't that uncommon EVEN among whites! And a lot of blacks DIDN'T have afros. Go figure. |

I am a black aspie and I am a hip hop fanatic. Although I like jazz, gospel, reggae and R&B My favorite is hip hop. Yet my discussion is multifaceted as I am also interested in politics, sports, etc. I as an Asperger am very social and open to conversation and a very cool person in general and not trying to be socially awkward as some (not all) aspies are.  |

Not black, but I know 1 black guy who is an aspie, and one who very possibly is.
When I was a teenager I would ride around in the car with my boyfriend (Ecuadorian)..listening to Public Enemy and the Ghetto Boys and Ice Cube and N.W.A..etc..etc...and I liked it.
When I was a kid, one of my major obsessions for a few years was African American culture..It consisted of mostly reading books...and I was obsessed with the black cheerleaders at my elementary school (a big group of girls who did cheers during recess)..and I followed them around and would sit near them at lunch and tried to do cheers with them...attempted to make uniforms for the "cheerleading squad"....etc...
They mostly thought i was really weird and a few of them ended up beating me up and pushing me down the stairs later on in Jr. High....

As I mentioned in a similar thread I'm not sure if I have AS but I am black.
I listen to any music really. If I like it, I like it. I don't properly listen to American hip-hop, my interest is with mostly UK music (where I live) and Caribbean music (my heritage).
Yeah, I would say I use lingo, not a lot though. I have had comments on the way I speak (accent), apparently to some other black people I sound posh. I've never been insulted but I think a small amount of people have been curious and may have thought I was more 'white' than black. Most of my friends are white as well, but I wouldn't say that was a concious decision, more that we had similar interests when we were younger and have been friends since. |

| I'm black and I have NLD/mild asperger's. I hate most rap but R&B is ok. I listen to mostly J-pop/rock, German pop/rap and rock. My parents hate my tastes in music though. |

There is a theory going around called the Neanderthal Theory, and states that ASD's might actually come from Neanderthals. The Neanderthal Genome Project has confirmed that their genes are 99.8% similar and that they could actually be just another race of homosapians. (With visual difference like Africans, Caucasians, Asians, and Polynesians etc) Neanderthals and similar species are thought to have breed with homosapians migrating from Africa. A sample group of Americans tested show that the most common with AS are whites/middle eastern, then Asian and North American and finally last African. The question they don't know is if it exists in pure African and if so on what scale.

When did they do this research on the genome project? I've heard about this theory but I kind of thought it had been abandoned my most people, hadn't heard anything in a few years.
It's interesting because red hair comes from the mutated gene that was introduced to the population by Neandrethals, and red hair is more common in people with autism and ADHD, we have a few flamers in my family and I'm auburn. The same gene is theorized to be at least partially responsible for ADHD and autism.
Neanderthals were actually thought to be smarter than modern homosapiens in many ways but are assumed to have met an evolutionary dead end because of their difficulty with communication.

| I'm black and I don't listen to that much of today's rap. I prefer old school hip-hop, 80's pop and rock, and gospel. I like Nintendo video games, writing short stories, and drawing. And I was diagnosed with high-functing autism/Aspergers at around 3 or 4 years of age. |

I use to listen to hip/hop rap music, but I got annoyed with the cursing and the messages of sex, violence, and drugs that they always put in their songs. Right now I listen to a variety of music, but techno is my favorite. I don't speak slang that much, and most of my friends at my school are white. I do get along with a lot of Black NTs at my church and school, but I barely get to talk to them. I just say hi and we both go our usual business. Nobody except my parents complained that I was acting white though  .
