There are some very upsetting things floating around out there. For example(i'm not singling anyone out, but this post reminded me to make this thread) : http://www.wrongplanet.net/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=1372077#1372077
The second to last post on there, really should get removed, as it is mean, hostile, and all around vulgar.
anyone else agree? |
I disagree SO strongly as to be on the verge of saying something to you SOLEY for you to find it offensive, so I can then laugh at you.
But I won't. It is the thought that counts, and that alone should be enough: Don't get offended.

Only if you happen to have the willpower of a wet rag.
I've been called all sorts by strangers, and even physically attacked, and I honestly don't give a toss. Don't hold it against them in the slightest. If you do, it is only because you're weak.

Obvious stuff like name-calling, foul-language, racial slurs and discrimination aimed @ the individual should be banned and the person who did it should have to face some consequence determined by the site administrators. That's not violation of free speech. That's COMMON SENSE AND COMMON DECENCY. |
Excuses, excuses, meatbag. ¬_¬
It IS a violation of free speech.
You have every right to say whatever you want to me, as I do to you. If words alone hurt you then that is YOUR problem and only YOU can fix it, but I've chosen not to be harmed by them. Simple as that. |

Does it?
EDIT* It lets some stuff through. | Like the b word...personally I get really offended over that word. _________________ "You can do the math a thousand way, but you can't undo the past"

This sort of vicious personal attack is completely counterproductive. If you've been as mistreated in the past as you claim, one would think it should make you more understanding, rather than less so.
True maturity is the realization that maintaining a hateful attitude only makes you into the very type of person who abused you. Being angry and mean is easy. THAT is weakness. Do you think perpetuating that anger and belligerence makes you stronger? Hate is not strength. It is chaos, and builds nothing.
As for the right to say whatever you want, there is no such right, unless that right is granted to you by the community in which you find yourself. In this case, that is no national government or constitution, but the WP administrators.
You think someone who can be hurt by ugly vicious words is weak? Words are precursors to action and are symbolic of action. They can be every bit as much a form of violence as beating someone with a baseball bat. People who respond with dismay to angry words are not weak, they're perceptive enough to know they've been attacked. Psychological abuse is still abuse and anyone who can't understand that, is either in very deep denial or has a mental health issue far more serious that AS, most likely a pathological personality disorder.
Just as in RL, any community who finds in it's midst an individual whose behavior is disruptive, damaging and harmful to others is obligated to remove that individual in order for the community to continue to function productively. Hatemongers are a social cancer and should not be tolerated.
WP right now has at least two regular posters whose aggressive and insensitive behavior warrant their immediate removal. _________________ "I don't mean to sound bitter, cynical or cruel - but I am, so that's how it comes out."

There *are* children on here, and they shouldn't be subjected to that kind of post. | What word is that? (my mom doesn't tell me anything) _________________ "You can do the math a thousand way, but you can't undo the past"
