I don't write very often, but when I do, it's always about myself. Especially my thoughts/feelings about my interests (I've recently been working on a Word document detailing my group of imaginary friends). I know there are some people on WP who like writing fiction/poetry, but is there anyone like me who likes writing about themselves or their interests? _________________ "What is today, but yesterday's tomorrow?" |

I never write fiction & just wrote poetry in school when we had to (decades ago).
I only voluntarily write about myself-which includes my interests (neurology, psychology, sociology, culture, language, etc.). I don't have access to the interior world of other people, only myself-so I leave it to others to write about themselves (if they're so inclined). _________________ *"You cannot administer a wicked law impartially-it destroys everyone it touches, its violators as well as its upholders."* |

| Every instant in our lives contains a universe of possibilities and we each view this hurricane of input through the limited senses we are granted by our genetics and our experience. We can each only see the tiniest portion of what is before us and what has occurred to us. And the only thing we can write about is the tiniest portion of that. In that sense we each only write about ourselves no matter what we write. |

I can get carried away with such fiction, and I have quite the vivid imagination.
Example?
"As the majestic leader of the rebellious cult fell, from the many bullets that pierced his torso as well as his courage, all hope was lost for the long awaited uprising against the evil ridden scum which was sadly known as The Government."
I made that up off the spot. |

| I like writing, sometimes anyway, and the best things I write tend to be about myself. I don't understand how other people perceive and feel things; I can follow and imagine other relatively logical trains of thoughts, but since I can't understand the emotion behind it, anything I try and write that way turns pretty bad. I also have a tendency to write very ridiculous things. |

I have a vivid imagination as well; it's just that the visions I have in my mind don't play out like a story. They're more like unrelated fragments. Besides, I think in pictures that are very difficult to translate into words. _________________ "What is today, but yesterday's tomorrow?" |

Wow, I can't tell if that's sarcasm or a genuine compliment. |

Well, they do say, a picture paints 1000 words. |

| You don't necessarily have to write about yourself, but it's an easy comfort zone to have. Perhaps too easy. I liked to try to break that comfort zone after maturing a little bit as a writer, just second-guess your character's traits and try to implement something alien. Unless one tries to write about what they do not understand or have not experienced yet most readers have a familiarity with (such as the virgin writing about sex), it's usually something people can get away with. |
