not because hodor says I should but because I chose to.
I just come here to shoot the bull. I have nothing to offer to the discussion of Asperger's, its symptoms, causes or treatments and I'm not learning anything with which to help me cope with having Asperger's.
I feel I don't know any of you. I've been here for a little over a year. I feel that I should be able to connect a user name with some attributes like "that person has a great sense of humor" or "you have to be careful what you say around that guy". The only member I know anything about is Tim_Tex and not for the right reasons.
When I first signed up, I thought it would be more of troubleshooting and giving tips to each other telling us how to cope with having Asperger's, how to make friends and relate to other people out there in the real world. Instead, a lot of you seem to be in love with the condition and wouldn't want it to go away so you could lead the life that I'd like to have. A lot of you do have that life and yet I haven't gained an iota of insight in how to do that. I'll look for a forum that does focus on bettering myself and learning coping and life skills.

I wish you well.
I'm not entirely happy with AS, I do have certain traits that I am thankful for, but there is a lot crap that I may never enjoy because of it and it is all stuff I want the most. 
I have seen helpful advice on the forum and it is from this forum that I learned that if I want to improve my own life, then I am going to have to get off of my butt and frickin' do something about it myself, no one else is going to do it for me.

Very true. That last line, is what I learned to be the real truth. If you want something, you have to get it, or do it, for yourself. You are responsible for your own life. Anything can be learned, if you push yourself enough. Everybody has strengths and weaknesses, but, those who push their limits, are the ones who achieve their dreams. Blame no one, and use what gifts you have. That is my advice to everyone.

I'm surprised you haven't learnt much about me from my posts... but ... ok, maybe I'm not expressing myself well.
In any case, if you leave I wish you luck.
If you've been posting problems and wanting answers, I haven't particularly noticed. Sorry. You might find a lot more help by checking out aspie blogs and stuff. Several members here have blogs - including me.

Well I dont know so much...
Ive been accepted into a Personal Helpers and Mentors Program.
The program is designed to assist individuals experiencing difficulty in their daily life due to mental illness. This is achieved by working towards recovery, reconnecting with your community, increased coping skills and personal goal setting etc and whilst I appreciate support all theyve done so far is f**** annoy me. |
