I can't drive even though I'm old enough to. I would be a horrible driver- mowing down old ladies because of absent-mindedness or clumsiness or both. Besides, my mother needs the car.

I like driving. The lessons were boring, mainly because my dad already taught me everything I needed to know. I'm thinking of learning how to drive a stick (my dad can teach me), and I'll probably get the hang of it sooner or later. Has anyone driven one before? Do you prefer that over auto?

Dude, I have my own car already (an '89 or '90, not really sure. but it's an '89 or '90 Camaro that's in bad condition, but its drivable), but I can't get a learner's until a year from now (when I'm 15 and a half Sad), so I have to wait. For now, I'm tired of walking to school every day!

Yes I have a manual car, and while it is harder to drive - it takes alot of practise - I'd much rather be able to drive a manual than only an auto. Auto's are pretty easy to drive, but it also limits you to only being able to drive an auto.. which isn't a great thing if you get stuck in a manual car. If you learn how to drive a manual you can easily drive an auto as well as a manual, instead of only an auto.

I feel your pain.. I have the car but not the liscense coz I'm slack... I could have had my liscense months ago... so I'm stuck with public transport for a little while yet.

Astarael- Yeah, that's what my parents tell me, too. It's always best to know how to drive a stick than just an auto. Plus, a manual car is less expensive.

It honestly isn't that bad. You'll get the hang of it.

And trust me, I learned. Even after failing the license test 3 times.

So I was really excited to learn how to drive, then I did and I flipped out it was so freaky, just get a big car (I have a lifted truck) and you'll feel more comfortable, cause then you will win if you get in an accident....sad but true Shocked

I'm 22 and still can't drive. I've tried twice, and I'm working on a third. It gets easier/less stressful the more I attempt it, though.

I'm 18 and my dad is forcing me to learn to drive, even though I don't want to. But I know I'm gonna have to because I live 5 miles from the nearest town and there aren't any busses, so I'm forcing myself to learn. About a week ago my sister was teaching me and she was confusing me, and I just freaked out. I stopped the lesson and I have vowed not to let her teach me again. Has anything like this happened to anyone else?

I havent driven since getting my license (well once but it was only a mile though it was in a big GMC Jimmy which when you learn to drive on tiny cars can take a lil getting used too.) Also one time in drivers ed I nearly hit a car, though the instructor also took his foot off the gas so I still got a pass on that drive.

Kind of. I didn't really get confused, I got distracted by pigeons on the road and the instructions went in one ear and out the other so I stopped then and said "no more" Shocked ..they wouldn't move even when I was driving straight towards them Embarassed

I am 100% afraid to drive.
I know that I will freak out and crash, but my parents really need me to drive, and I know I need to, but I'm still scared. Plus, I look like I'm 12, and cops will be pulling me over 24/7. My mom wants me to drive so bad that she is willing to buy me a NEW CAR Exclamation
