Yup, I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome too. It's a real pain in the ass. All I can say is just keep on walking, don't give up, you know it's true.

This is still quite the interesting subject to me, even though I cant find a whole lot of info on IBD/autism.

I have had Crohns for nearly 6 years now. It has never really been under control, and ive been on nearly every medication their is. Currently (after a week long hospital visit) I am on high doses of prednisone to try and calm things down, then I will go back to infusions of remicade. Hopefully it will work again.

I have tried diets of all sorts, and none really work.

The pain sure does suck, seems I double over in pain quite frequently these days. Fun stuff.

Anyway, I wish all of you with IBD problems the best of luck! Smile

Diagnosed around age 12 (pushing 40 now)...making notes of my trigger foods and avoiding them helped..with me that's mainly anything containing artificial sweetner, pepsi in any shape or form, take out foods or some convience foods, chicken depending on how it's cooked or if contains preservatives like MSG.

I've found that some things have changed with time...I used to be unable to tolerate salad dressings or tomatoes...now they are not a problem.

Probiotic supplement seems to have helped a bit (the frequency of the episodes have decreased) and ibuprofen seems to help me some with the cramping....but things like stress, illness, getting no sleep, & hormones are still triggers for me...and unpreventable alot of the time. I also don't take real well to long rides in the car...it's alot better than it was...but I haven't found anything to "cure" it yet.

Regarding your use of Merc Sol (Mercurius solubilis): Mercury is a heavy metal neurotoxin. Ingesting anything containing mercury will damage your health more than help it. Here is some very detailed information from the USA National Library of Medicine about the toxic effects of mercury:

http://toxnet.nlm.nih.gov/cgi-bin/sis/search/r?dbs+iris:@term+@rn+7439-97-6

Sorry, too many details there, a summary would be better. Anyway the point is that it is very well established that ingesting mercury is VERY damaging to your health. It is a neurotoxin, that is a medical fact.

You might ask, if mercury is so toxic, why are homeopaths allowed to sell it? If it is so bad, why are they not being arrested for poisoning people? Well, there is a reason for this. The Merc Sol that homeopaths sell today is not the original Merc Sol.

You see, in times past, prior to modern science, Mercury (called Merc Sol) was thought to be a cure for various ills. And then along came modern science, and it was proven beyond a doubt that mercury is actually toxic. Thus homeopaths do not sell real Merc Sol anymore, because if they did, they would be jailed for selling known toxic substances to people as medicines.

So what is the modern "Merc Sol" that homeopaths sell? It does not contain mercury anymore, that would be illegal. The modern Merc Sol is actually 100% plain water. Or water + alcohol. So, in other words, you were ripped off. Homeopaths sell expensive bottles of water. Homeopathy is a scam.

Surprisingly, despite these bottles of homeopathic medicine being nothing but water (or water+alcohol), they can actually make some people feel a bit better because of the placebo effect. The mind has a powerful effect on the body, and if the mind is tricked into thinking that something is being done to help it, it can actually have a measurable effect on the body. Only a minor negligible effect, but still measurable for some people. So the best result you can expect from homepathic medicines is the benefit of the placebo effect. Homeopathy is a scam or a placebo, depending on which way you want to look at it.

It makes me mad that governments of the world do not take a harsher stand against con-artists. If the scam is mostly benign (frex homepathy does not harm people because it is just water), then the authorities are not very concerned about it.

Yes, I have IBS, stomach ulcers, and severe acid reflux.

Have to agree with Laz about the Asperger's and nursing.
