Note: This joke may only be understood if you've watched Generator Rex obsessively.

From what I've read, Autism Speaks was probably founded by White Knight!

Now if you are looking for a real scam, try The American Red Cross. Hire Bob Doles wife, mostly staffed by Scientology, and the donations go to churches who use them for missions to save souls out of the country.

They do not have a mission, just collect money, and go to disasters to tell people in distress to join Scientology for answers.

They collected for Haiti, but are not there. That was dumped on the UN, another disaster scam. Scientology must not want Hatians.

None of these groups donate anything to science.

Autism Speaks is one of the few who do what they said they were doing.

About half of everything raised has gone to science, and the other half includes things like offices, venues for fund raisers, artists performing, that count as donations, but are of no use to science, they only take cash.

So the percentage of cash for science is a larger portion than of all donations.

No one starts with the idea of prove vaccines, metals, genetics, are the cause, that would not be science. Autism Speaks funding has disproved most of what was thought of Autism.

My thought is the regression at two point to a virus, that like Polio has various outcomes. Most mild, some not mild.

Without information on what you are dealing with, it is impossible to set up a program to deal with it.

Adults claiming they should be supported are not living in locked wards. Few are living in Group Homes, and these groups are funded.

Their claim is not backed by anything, they are maybe part of the Broader Autism Phenotype, 10% of the population, most of who survive fairly well. Geeks and nerds are not disabled, they have always existed.

All I gather from the demands, are very social non autistic people who want to form a leadership position where they will be funded to Speak for Autism, and forget money for science.

Autism Speaks, in a year, takes in about less than one days public cost of supporting LFA, That is the multi billion dollar problem they are working to solve.

An Autism Vaccine, no more LFA. It could be a Virus, a Prion, it strike at two with various results.

Most survive, strange children who become strange adults, who do outgrow a lot of it, some never do.

It is worthwhile Public Health, something to fund all the Broader Autism Phenotype who work in labs.

A second result is we are learning a lot more about how the mind works. Psychology has been wild gusses, and studies based on five hand picked subjects.

Now we have MRIs that can see the brain process information, We have discovered that East Asians use other brain centers to process math, We have discovered that some autistic brains have no action in some centers, but they can be turned on. This has broad possibilities, brain tuneups for all, treating addiction, other behaviors, that seem stuck in a loop.

Results count, Autism Speaks has produced funding for science with results, now in clinical trials.

Advocate Leaders who want funding to lobby for acceptance offer us nothing.

The views expressed are anti better run charities, the corporate model, science, and applied research.

We are a Micro minority, with little in common, except an inward looking nature. The politics of color, gender, do not apply..

If everyone could be brought into one group, all 1% of the population, it would be a group without power. We would not agree.

All of Wrong Planet, plus all of Autism Speaks, maybe 100,000 out of three million. 3% of autism seeking answers, and many of those parents, Psych Majors doing a study, teens with computer access.

The money going to science is our best hope.

If I had scammed a bunch of NTs into raising money to further my hobby, I would be happy. They did it on their own, I am just as happy.

Funding Alex's video obsession makes me even more happy.

Unlike those who demand we take to the streets in protest, those with the answer, the Autistic are a people of questions, and answers are never enough. Looking inward and forward, the game is just getting interesting.

I did not read all of what you said about Autism Speaks here Inventor, but I do get the gist that you believe them a repulsive, hate-mongering, money-grubbing, all pervasive, interfering, subversive organisation who has done much harm in their projection of what Autism is whilst dismissing, minimising or trying to sue those who object to their methods.

I agree. Like totally and I want to tell you it is both a brave and honest call.

Reminds me of the articles I wrote on them on www.aspiesforfreedom.wordpress.com
Check them out you may like them.

Autism Speaks is not the only charity funding autism research. Bottom line, their money handling is questionable. Their pet research projects are controversial in some circles. There are more effective charities out there that support the autistic community as a whole.

Nothing wrong with doing your homework before giving someone your money. What I've found in my own research has led me away from Autism Speaks.. .mainly becasue I'm not really sure who exactly they are speaking for.
