Cross dominant with ambidextrous tendencies. (I am equally incompetent with both hands!)
I write English, French and Latin with my right, I write Chinese and Hebrew with my left.
In sports I am all over the map, some right (shooting, archery, bowling), some left (golf, racquet sports).
I fence ambidextrously.

i started out left but was made in school to learn to write with the other. (i suppose with increasing tolerance there will be fewer & fewer & finally none treated so.) i've observed over the years various facets of this, which i call being "parasinistral". for instance, i have difficulty keeping to a constant rhythm drumming (though i enjoy the activity, i doubt my listeners do).
in the morning, before i've had my coffee i'm likely to reach for things with my left. and when i'm tired. it hadn't occurred to me until recently that there might be any correlation between handedness & the other things.
also i have greater difficulty than most in keeping oriented spatially--the internal map. (should be a separate thread...?)
curious.

I'm ambidextrous. Began life as a lefty but the nuns smacked it out of me because they said it was a sign of the devil. Whatever!
I write right-handed but colour, draw, paint etc left-handed. I play sport like tennis right but throw balls with the left. I also eat left-handed and it's my dominant side for almost everything but writing. |
