But I prefer newer dnb to be honest. Just like I prefer psy over goa these days.

I tend slightly the opposit albeit there was a really nice hotspot between 2007 and 2008 (epitomized by Loxy's Pyro Radio sessions of that period), of which some artists have been taking the kind of sound like like further.

I just found this 2006 relick of Nasty Habits - Shadow Boxing. Nice work buy Blu Mar Ten!

Dom (for example) put out quite some bangers during the 90s, like this one:

No, I agree that Dom had some great tracks around then: Killer Bullet, Parasite, Mechanics, Transmissions, etc..

That said though if we don't fully agree on the strength of certain eras it doesn't mean that either of us are necessarily wrong. The fact that I was 18 yrs old back in 1998 and was brought in via way of industrial, darker grunge, and hip hop has a lot of bearing on my tastes as well.

My own bug with the newer stuff is that it tends more toward that sort of synthetic Pendulum side of the sound and even a lot of the dark still feels like its lost a certain phattness, vinylistic feel, etc. as the production tools have tended more synthetic so it seems to loose a bit of that 'street' edge.

None of the nu skool dnb I listen to sounds plastic to me (if that was the sound you were dissing), but I agree that 99% of the dark dnb out there these days sounds very poorly produced. I think it all went downhill after 2006 when the minimal virus came to infect the dnb scene and the rise of dubstep didn't help either since 99% of that genre also sounds plastic as hell. It either sounds too muddy or too thin these days, nothing in between, no balance. Out of every 1000 producers in one style, there is 1 decent one.

fav song off Kid A. Scary story: I was reading an occult book at my grandma's house and I turned to a chapter about invoking some spell to a demon (Bael I think) that could make you vanish for a limited amount of time and this song immediately started playing. Freaked out pretty badly.
