"You're in your own little bubble" (wrong; I'm simply not talking because I have nothing to say)
"Stop ranting" (wrong; just enthusing about a special interest)
"Smile - it can't be that bad!" (what? I'm quite happy - I just have a relaxed face)
"So arrogant..." (wrong; just answering a question in detail)
"Know-it-all" (wrong; just telling you what I know about something, as requested)
"You're too honest for your own good" (you'd rather I told lies instead?)
"You're so distant" (me? I'm here and fully alert - but where the hell are you?)
"You're very quiet - what's wrong?" (nothing, nothing at all. I'm just not making a noise, Ok?)
"Stop fidgeting, will you!" (that's not a fidget, it's a very precise stim which you'll never appreciate. Why don't you stop looking instead?)
"You need to be more assertive" (I have no idea what that means)
"You never want to talk" (well of course I do, but it has to be about something)
"You just have to be different, don't you?!" (well, I am different, thank God - is that so wrong?)
"You have to have the last word, dammit!" (and why not? I haven't finished what I was saying yet)
"Now you're just being awkward" (not really - it's just that you're expecting something unrealistic from me)
And so on, ad nauseum...

I work in a small office full of technical folks so I don't hear such remarks these days as I'm pretty sure we're mostly aspies and HFA. It's pretty cool. One can have a meltdown and the rest are "ho hum" and just step back until it's over.
The remarks I heard most often were "you're so weird", "you're so smart that you're stupid" and "HOW can you KNOW that?!?!" (as if IQ points are earned in college or only college students have access to or interest in certain types of information).
edit: I dropped out of high school first chance I got. |

I see a lot of people get the "Why dont you smile more?" or something similar. I got "What are you smiling about?" or "Why do you think that's funny?" Guess I smile and laugh at the wrong things! I also have always got the "You are so weird" statement so many times I say if I had a quarter for every time someone called me weird, Id be rich ! I have also been told that I am "annoying" ect. So Im an annoying, weird person who smiles and laughs too much ~. |

"Oh that is just Karla being Karla" (always right in front of me or within ear shot) Apparently my social blunders need to be excused. LOL!
I am a smiling sort of Aspie too. So I often get the "What are you up to?" question. I like keeping them all nervous and guessing. Besides.... it takes less muscles to smile then to frown. |

They just give me well meaning advice that I need to take care of myself, which I often forget because I'm such a "Luna Lovegood" scatterbrain.
But if one thing is certain, it's that whiny tone of exasperation where you say someone's name with dispare and fustration. I hate that name, and when this is all over I'm changing it. Once I zap my old body with stem cells, (going to keep my Aspieness though). |

1.. Why don't you jsut be yourself for, other people will most likely approach you and want to make friends with you
2.That's very strange cause, I don't know anyone else whom likes stuff like that.
3Sometimes I really feel your in another world altogether and really can't seem to understand you one bit.. |

"You and your fruit snacks!"(Usually followed by "Can I have one?", in which case I indulge, but not before bopping them on the head with the pouch first, )
"How the hell did you learn to play that song right away?!"
"How do you even remember that?"
"If (FireMinstrel) says your guitar is in tune, it's in tune!"(sincere)
"You're a BEAST!!!" (apparently, that means I'm amazing or something. You learn a new word every day)
"Drive faster!"
"You're going to be a diabetic when you're 35,"(related to the fruit snacks) _________________ "I'm sorry, I seem to have a tin ear for other people's feelings..." -Naoto Shirogane |

Another smiling-at-the-wrong-time Aspie here. I often have no idea I am smiling when someone alerts me to it. Also get a lot of "you look tired" and "you look sad" "is something wrong?" and "you're so quiet". And another one that drives me crazy is when someone asks me "How are you?" and I dutyfully reply "Fine" and they say "Yeah???" in a questioning tone like I'm lying - which I am but the whole question is phony to start with and I'm just saying what the hell you are supposed to say. I don't get this. |

"You're stupid."
"Talk louder."..followed shortly by... "Don't bite my head off!"
"Open your mouth more." Stop ording me to serve you off job.
"You can't pass that test, so don't bother. It's for people who know the subject." (It's so 'inspireing' that trolls and loved ones alike give me this line sometimes.)
"What a vivid imagination." (For seeing.. 1: a skunk 2: a wolf, 3: A meteorite tail, amung other believable things.)
"I don't feel like cooking tonight." Great! Do I cook, or fast fetch? |

cheer up
smile
what's wrong?
mouse
stop frowning
uncross your arms
weird
having fun in your own world?
and so many more, which everyone has already posted.
Most of the time I'm happy on the inside until someone tells me to cheer up, then I get a REAL frown on my face. |

I used to get Smile more than I do nowadays and have always been made fun of for my rigid, military-like gait. Luckily most people who do that now do so while I'm at work. Working for an armored truck service I move fast and aggressive and am told I look like I'm ready to kill someone. I just tell people that it's a calculated security measure designed to keep would be bad guys at bay. I just neglect to tell them that I'm often that way outside of work as well lol.
I also get asked what the matter is, even by people who know what my normal expression is. I've known my roommate since middle school (27 now) and he still can't walk by me watching tv without asking if everything is ok. Sometimes I wanna just reach out and smack him. |
