Course I can admit Jonathan Richman may have the absolute worst voice in human history and still have a spot in my heart for Roadrunner...
Eh? I think I need my hearing checked again. You have heard Lou Reed, right? If you listen to his attempts to 'sing' at the top of his non-existent range on The Bells, then you will never say anything bad about Jonathan Richman's singing again. It makes Jonathan Richman, Ray Davies, Ian Dury, etc sound like Pavarottis. I still love The Bells, though :lol _________________ I'm as ugly as sin and twice as sweet.
Let's see, who do I hate?
Male:
Barry Manilow
Michael Bolton
Owl City, especially the song, "Fireflies"
Justin Timberlake
Female:
Katy Perry
Britney Spears
Rosanne, when she sang the National Anthem
Alanis Morisette
they are assholes, their music sucks and lacks of quality, the female ones don't even write their own music, but in fact they can sing and are what the kids of today subjective interprete as "sexy" and that's why they succeed in popular music.
they are definitely whores who sell their body and their honour for money. in fact this kind of music isn't even art, it's pop, which means something that has been individual and inovative years before gets popular which means everybody is accustomed to this kind of style. so anybody can copy it, no matter how bad the music is, it just has to sound good thenceforward (voice, studio-quality, a rich black producer.... xD)
bad singers are for example: Keith Richards, Ringo Starr, Anastacia (ok, maybe not bad, but her voice extremely annoys me...)
ones who are successful with their fartvoice are Leonard Cohen (good music but bad, bad voice)
and the worst who's actually in my mind: Tom Waits (his music is based on his cruel voice...)

Drum-machine is a BRILLIANT drummer.
Are you saying that there is a recording artist named "Drum-machine?" I had no idea! I was making the name up to represent drum machines which I find as boring and soulless as a metronome.

I can't think of any bad singers... but then I only listen to The Clash, The Ramones, and Rancid. _________________ If someone is able to show me that what I think or do is not right, I will happily change, for I seek the truth, by which no one was ever truly harmed. i used to really dislike singers who seemed to be technically bad, or who cultivated an unusual style. but i had a friend argue with me over the course of 20 years that you don't have to be a "good" singer to be appreciated and understood and liked by some people (even if it is just 12 fans at the karaoke bar!).
he thinks there is something important and beautiful about singers who have a drive to express their voice and words, even if the end result isn't great on a technical level. and yes, he's the person who convinced me to start recording. LOL
I tend to agree with this. On the other side of the spectrum, you have singers who have a great singing technique, yet they fail to convey emotion when they sing. Just watch any talent show (Idol, X-Factor, Popstars, The Voice), at any point of its course whether it's the auditions, the theatre rounds, or the live shows, and you'll see and hear what I mean. Lots of people just belting out a ballad at the top of their lungs, but not a single note touches the heart. It's flash and show. Of course, there are also a lot of candidates who do get it. thank heavens.
As for which singer's voice I dislike the most: Rihanna's, hands down. _________________ clarity of thought before rashness of action

Um...no. I was showing that drum-machines are NOT soulless and boring as a metronome, whether they are playing ridiculously complicated stuff or whether they are basically a metronome.

Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Courtney Love. The Milli Vanilli guys lol.
Courtney Love's voice isn't traditionally beautiful, but it's very emotional and suits her style of music. Plus, her lyrics are awesome.
My picks:
Joanna Newsom - She's an amazing songwriter and harpist, but her voice is grating as hell. I can only listen to her in mall doses.
Chad Kroeger/Scott Stapp/most post-grunge bands - They sound like they're passing kidney stones.
Britney Spears - I feel bad for bashing her because she's so out of it, but she can't sing. All she does is whisper-croak over background music.
My roommate - Her voice sounds off at times and she's bad at enunciating. _________________ I don't post here anymore. If you want to talk to me, go to the WP Facebook group or my Last.fm account.
