Mah, if all religious nuts go to space, we will have the first space Jihad between Saturn's and Mars' colonies 2 years after. _________________ . |

It's still physically possible though, even if at present it is unrealistic. We need space elevators and we need to have space based agriculture, but after those the space industry would be self sufficient and could get past the basics finally and expand exponentially. This really ought to be worked toward earnestly rather than kept on the side until it is truly too late. |
A lot of those concepts are really distant though from coming into fruition, even if all the world governments started pouring adequate research into it. I think if the human species has a future, it is to populate space. However, I don't think were going to have enough time to achieve that unless we work toward becoming more peaceful globally alongside developing space elevators and whatnot. Just one nuclear war could send us back to the stone age, and the atomic bomb hasn't even been around for 70 years. That's not really that long in terms of the whole scale of human history. |

| I don't know if we'll ever be able to achieve total world peace, but wishful thinking and scapegoating all of society's problems on single issues is no way to go about finding solutions. I find it really disturbing at how people are so quick to scapegoat complex problems onto certain beliefs or social norms, and propose that by doing away with them we will achieve a grand utopia (without any evidence to support such claims). These people seem to advocate a totalitarian society that enforces their worldview. |

Especially people who say banning religion will do so. Communism tried to do that right? |
