But I wonder if this new film is saying that the company were the ones who built the alien ship? Perhaps they created the alien species, something went wrong on LV426 and so they made the Nostromo go there to find out what happened.
I just watched the IMAX trailer, which unfortunately doesn't reveal much of anything about the plot. Lots of explosions and bodies flying around, the Space Jockey's chest slowly opening, and Noomi Rapace (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) looking like she's about to have an emotional meltdown. Not much dialogue in the trailer. It looks to be more action-oriented than the original Alien. _________________

That would be sad. In that respect, the movie Aliens had done a disservice by turning one of the scariest horror movies ever made into an action/adventure franchise.

Hollywood is in the business of selling movie tickets, not preserving the art of filmmaking.
Action sells more tickets.
That being said, I'm ok with Prometheus being more of an action film.
The original Alien was a horror/suspense masterpiece, one of a kind.
I'd be more offended if they tried to re-create that aspect of the original.
I am seriously psyched for this film! The alien series has always been my favorite. I have been waiting over 30 years for this. Ever since I saw those first fuzzy images of the horseshoe shaped ship in the original, and saw the space jockey for the first time, I have always wondered about the back story. I'm glad Ridley Scott has returned to restore dignity to the franchise.
To be honest I liked all the films, including resurrection and the two AVP movies (though not as much).
Alien 3 was delightfully dark, and the action in Aliens was a nice contrast to the first movie.
I haven't been to a movie theater since 2009, and the last "3D" movie I saw was Friday the 13th 3D back in the 80's.
But I will be there first showing, opening day for Prometheus _________________ Your Aspie score: 172 of 200

Prometheus might be epic, possibly due to Ridley Scott returning to direct the film, getting newcomers, new monsters, and has a bit more sci-fi action, maybe some references from the Alien film. _________________ Regards,

The only problem with sci-fi prequels is how technology does not line up right.
Prometheus has fancy, interactive, open air holograms, while the original had monochrome crt's.
Prometheus has lightweight, skin tight space suits, Alien had bulky ones that we're difficult to see out of.
But this happens with every sci-fi prequel, especially ones made 30 years+ after the original.
I'm not complaining, just pointing it out. _________________ Your Aspie score: 172 of 200

I hope not, but that may be very well so.

Yeah me too. Sorry I didn't mean to put s huge downer on things I'm really hyped for the movie but I just think everyone is expecting Epic and it is a huge ask. I've seen this happen before, it could be a great film but still disappoint because people are expecting it to make them feel how they did about the original movies

Walking into it with an attitude like that will almost certainly guarantee your disappointment no matter how the movie really is.
I suggest you don't even bother seeing it.
BTW: What hype? I was unaware this movie is being hyped any more than any other movie. _________________ Your Aspie score: 172 of 200

Nope, it's the complete opposite my friend. If I walk into the theater thinking this is going to be the Epic Aliens prequel movie that I and all the other millions of Aliens fans want it to be then I will most probably be disappointed, just being realistic, I've learned my lesson from expecting too much from prequels and reboots i.e the Star Wars prequels, alien vs predator, Rambo, Superman reboot, Rocky etc.
What hype? What Hype!!?? Are you kidding me? You are obviously not an Aliens or scifi fan otherwise you would realize what is expected of this film
