Really?
It is questionable why someone would want to do that, though. You would not make a profit from it.

I don't disbelieve you. But these Natteravnene and "condom bowls" are not the same thing as free unlimited contraception for all citizens. Here's a question: Is there still a market for condoms in Denmark? Is it still possible to go to the corner store and buy a packet of condoms? |
are they being sold as used merchandise, pre owned or as retail products? (ah found it seller refurbished, see?)
sure you can still buy condoms, and how would the effect be any different if free contraceptives were privded at similar locals around the US? _________________ //through chaos comes complexity//

Last year, I worked in a govt funded clinic. One of the big ticket items was Xanax. We had this provider who would prescribe them 90 at a time in some cases, I honestly think it was to keep the patients from coming back anytime soon.
There was no way I could give 90 pills to everyone who showed up, so, I handed out 20, made a note in the patient records and just told them to come back when they ran out. If they complained, I just told them we were having a shortage and needed some for the next guy.
Change Xanax to condoms and the same strategy can work. I can see someone needing 30-60 condoms, that can last you the better part of a month even if you're completely insatiable. If someone asks for 500, I'd wonder if they wouldn't expire before they're all used. |

| Burzum wrote: | | hyperlexian wrote: | | why would you want 500 condoms per day? |
I already outlined why. If I sell those condoms for 10 cents each on eBay, that's an easy $50 per day. If I sell a product, and that product could be produced more cheaply if I am able to use free condoms in its production instead of whatever resource it is I pay for in the market, then I can make more money. |
people will likely not buy them unboxed. that would be a safety issue as they would not be properly sealed in a package. also, there is not a big market for the cheap brands that are currently given away (i checked on eBay).
lastly.... our clinics here in Canada give away condoms for free (no limits on how many a person takes either), and nobody is selling them for a profit on eBay lol. so this imaginary world in which people are stuffing their pockets and making a profit is pure nonsense.

I don't know how the effect would be any different, the point is that what you are talking about is not the same thing as free unlimited access to contraception for all citizens.

So sell them boxed.

Source please. I want to know all the circumstances. Can I just walk into a clinic and get as many condoms as I like at any time?

link to what? an eBay search?
you cannot sell condoms boxed without having.... boxes. where would a person get the boxes from? they don't give out boxes of condoms in clinics - they are individual only.
no, i am not going to give a source to the fact you can get free condoms in clinics in Canada. come and visit and you can get some free condoms if you like. yes, you can walk in and get as many condoms as you like - sort of. they keep them in a basket usually, but they only put out a couple of handfuls at a time. _________________ on a break, so if you need assistance please contact another moderator from this list:

What? |
your attitude is puzzling.
in denmark there is state financing for birth control for women if there is a medical reason, (many receive them for these issues)
there is a free distribution of condoms for anyone who wants to get off their ass to get it.
in effect anyone who wants to have sex can have free condoms. _________________ //through chaos comes complexity//

Yes.

The topic of this thread is regarding government mandated coverage of birth control, which means being able to get condoms free from retail, which means getting boxed condoms. Apologies for not inherently knowing you were talking about clinics in Canada.
| hyperlexian wrote: | | no, i am not going to give a source to the fact you can get free condoms in clinics in Canada. |
Then why should I believe that what you are talking about is in any way related to the topic of discussion?
| hyperlexian wrote: | | yes, you can walk in and get as many condoms as you like - sort of. they keep them in a basket usually, but they only put out a couple of handfuls at a time. |
So you've debunked your own claim, that being that you have unlimited access. I'm willing to bet that they won't let you take more than a handful at a time, either. Do all clinics provide this service, or only some?
Regardless, a lot of the people that are currently in favour of free birth control are not advocating that clinics provide a cheap brand of condoms for free, they are advocating that government should mandate coverage of contraception by insurance companies, meaning you can get any brand of condoms for free from retail. I take it you do not side with these people? |

it is reasonable to assume that "free condoms" would not mean that a person would have the ability to walk away with 500 at a time. just like when a store gives away free samples of biscuits or whatever, they normally will not allow a person to walk away with hundreds of samples. it falls under the umbrella of "reasonable"... and your fears are not covered by that.
about the other things... you're taking this discussion to a level of absurd hyperbole. _________________ on a break, so if you need assistance please contact another moderator from this list:

The funny thing is; I do believe that people are essentially mindless automatons of the universe, that people 'can't' help themselves because they simply don't have the circuitry for self-denial unless they've had some kind of hardship or genetic problem (hence the world *really* doesn't want them procreating), but I still have some confusion on this part - even at $35 to $50 per month, how is getting an AT&T or Verizon bill in her email monthly and spending $1,000 over three years not just as much of an affront to her rights or how is paying $300 per half on her auto insurance (if she drives) not an affront to her mobility?
If the argument is really about a repealed discount on birth control it looks like this debate went WAY offsides - from both Sandra Fluke's side and Rush Limbaugh's. When debates like this come out its hard not to think that its really just a political stalking game. |

Arguing with the hard of thinking is hazardous to your own mental health.
Suffice it to say that I can think of at least four locations within a five minute walk of my office where I can get my hands on free condoms should I require them.
If I wanted to take more than those on display I think I would get greeted with a response along the lines of, "How many do you think you will need? If you run out, come back tomorrow, we'll have fresh ones." _________________ --James |
