I dont think you understand just how hard it is to try and communicate with people who dont talk the same language as you. Unless you have the best looks in the world I doubt youd get far. And considering that this thread is specifically about spanish speaking countries its even less of a chance theyd speak english. Its well known that most people that speak a latin based language are unlikely to know english, especially if they are in their own country. So unless you can perform a superhuman feat and learn spanish or portugese in a month itll be a hard hit on you.

Have you ever been to a place where people don't speak English? It's difficult to impossible to make yourself understood. I'd be completely lost in Poland, Ukraine or Russia, for example.

It is possible to make yourself understood and to make out phrases though when you go on holiday. Somewhere where the alphabet is completely different is much, much trickier.

From my experience living in spanish speaking countries Ive come to learn that locals dont speak enough english to have a clue what youll say to them. Yes in the tourist part theyll know enough to sell you something. but thats it. Ive heard its just as bad in italy and brazil, france is hit or miss as they claim to know english but simply dont want to speak it. No ammount of phrasing is going to make a germanic language sound like a latin one.

I think some guys live in a fantasy where the grass is greener on the other side and they are going to go to Sweden or Brazil and have supermodels all over them.

Of course the grass is greener, but OP's friend might live in an area like say, Seattle, where women want a career first (and a man with a career already) rather than a relationship today. (gross over simplification, i know!)
-Compare this to the girls i know from North Carolina and Ohio, whom many from the western washington area would call "crazy"
most of the guys i know here are either still hooked up with someone they met in highschool, or someone they met in the later stages of college.
someone like myself, without a degree, without a career has little to offer around these parts.

I'm headed to South africa sometime in the next 3 months btw.

and as far as the grass is greener, more than a couple people have told me i should go to college in central/south america and learn "real" spanish, knock out the first 3 years of college for pennies on the dollar compared to 5 figures a year for tuition in the States.

Hmm I understand but what I'm saying is that if men lack success with women and dating in their own country or lack the confidence to approach and escalate with women, how is moving to another country surrounded by even more beautiful women going to solve that?

I have little success with women back home, but I get girls in Japan. Beautiful ones too, scarcity is an asset, but the main thing I think is happiness being infectious.
If you are enthusiastically exploring a new culture women will be attracted to you like a beacon, wanting to partake of that enthusiasm.

With this you can practice approach and escalation and all the little nuances of romantic relationships and gain confidence in your abilities. So in my opinion moving somewhere for the women is a great reason!

Hmm I guess you're right, that enthusiasm must come across as attractive and intriguing. Also I suppose cultural norms might be different, perhaps Japanese women are more inclined towards men that show certain traits, hmm I never thought of it as a reason to practice approach and escalation as well.

I have heard society in Japan has a more reserved nature so I can understand how someone on the spectrum might be more successful over there or as stated, you might end up lost in translation like this guy.

no i dont, I find it stupid to move somewhere for women alone. Wether you cant pick them up off the floor or have to pay them to leave you it is a stupid idea.

Brazilian aren't all bad. I have met some really stuck up ones here but there are still more nice ones the there are stuck up ones here... and I'm allowed to say this because I am brazilian.

Many brazilians are curious about foreigners, that's definitely true (assuming they can communicate with you), but a minority will also seem them as a ticket (to a meal or a visa or anything in between).

Communication issues will be huge. Learning another language is like learning to walk again. I've learnt more than one language and I know the feeling. It takes you months at least to be proficient in a language.

On a more serious note, I don't think moving countries is really going to be the answer. They may be more understanding of some differences because they know you are a foreigner, but that would be about it. Once you're no longer the new and shiny toy, what's going to be the pull then?
