The way science works is that if you don't do it, somebody else will. Had it not been 2 jews, I'm quite certain 2 goys would've done it sooner or later.

The frequency of Jewish Nobel Laureates is disproportional to the number of Jews.

Not anymore!

Besides, your claims of jews having superior genes hold as much water as 19th century racialist claims about whites having genetically superior intelligence. Jews in science are quickly being supplanted by (east)Indians when it comes to nobel prize winners.

Its about time. Still, Jews occur in disproportionate numbers in the physical science and mathematics. It was never genetic. It was cultural from beginning to end.

Bin Laden was suffering from magical thinking. They honestly believed that the effort in Afghanistan caused the collapse of the Soviet Union. They felt the same thing could be recreated with the US, ignoring the fact that $1 billion in aid helped them beat the Soviets. I think they anticipated a similar sudden collapse.

I've read accounts that some AQ members came to believe that the 9/11 attacks were counterproductive and brought down too much heat. Their goal was never the destruction of the US, it was the take over of Muslim nations. And the Arab Spring has now stolen their thunder.

I remember Reagan taking credit for the end of the "Evil Empire" for the US too. Lots of factors involved, but many of the issues where internal.

The same can be said for the attack on the US; AQ did not make the US go to war with Iraq in response to the attacks, however the 9/11 attack was used as a justification for that resulting action and the massive unfunded tax breaks that have weakened the economy of the US, along with other unrelated factors, that have resulted in a real fear of impending economic failure in recent years.

Interesting that while the Internet has been focused on as a source of motivation to recruit AQ in the past, it has been a source of motivation within the Arab world to bring down oppressive governments from within, with the Arab Spring.

Hopefully that will make another significant attack on the US, less likely, if the focus stays inside the borders.

However, I suppose as civil strife grows there will be more individuals from the Middle East seeking to migrate to other areas of Europe, which appears to be becoming a greater issue of concern as time goes on, among some Europeans, obviously concerned over issues of civil strife within their borders as well.

There was a recent thread here regarding the Neanderthal theory of Autism, that suggested that a lack of neurodiverse traits along with a reduction in Neanderthal DNA, among those in the middle east and in subsarahan countries like Somalia was an issue of concern for those individuals migrating to other countries.

There is an underlying religous theme, racial theme, and per that thread even a genetic theme that has been suggested in various media sources associated with the migration issues.

But, I think the basic underlying factor is culture and the struggle for power and control in the remaining patriarchal societies in the world, along with associated efforts to adapt to the changing egalitarian face of the world associated with a global economy.

And, this appears to continue to be a significant factor of conflict within the borders of the US as well.

It is always good for the elite to have a bogeyman around to blame things on when they plan to rob a nation blind, it's pretty much rule number one for most forms of authoritarianism.

I think it is too early to judge the outcome of the Arab Spring, but I'm getting more pessimistic as time goes on.

Tunisia, Libya and Egypt have all voted into power islamist parties and despite the claim from these parites that they want to model themselves on Turkey's AKP, some fairly unpleasant things on going on unchecked.

For example in Egypt extremist clerics are a regular feature on television preaching very nasty anti-semitic and anti-christian things. In the last 12 months 100,000 coptic christians have fled Egypt because of seriously escalating levels of persecution that the government is ignoring.

There is a lot of anger in these countries from decades of repression and the governments are dealing with a pretty chaotic situation so hopefully these things might settle down in a year or two but on the other hand it is difficult to believe that virulent hate speech on 100% state run TV for months on end is going on without the government's consent.

I didn't know about the hatred being preached on Egyptian TV. That does not bode well.

What is the situation with the tourist resorts? Are vendors still being (usually successfully) intimidated into not selling alcohol to tourists and others?

I don't know, but the finance ministry has banned Egypt's free stores from selling alcohol outside of the airport.

http://www.egyptindependent.com/node/567796

It appears they do intend to take the same approach as AKP in Turkey, by using the law to place increasing onerous restrictions on alcohol sales. In Turkey however there is a strong, secular constitution so the laws get challenged in court and over turned only for the AKP to introduce new but different restrictions.

Egypt has no secular constitution so the Islamist parties in Egypt won't have the same trouble the AKP have been having.

I read Western tourists who bring bottles of spirits into Egypt are extremely popular due to their astronomical cost there.

Do you think the AKP will eventually be successful in Turkey?

At the moment, no.

They campaigned at the election last year on a platform of constitutional change, hoping that they would increase their majority in parliament to the 2/3 threshold required in order to change the constitution.

They lost 15 seats, so they are now further away from being able to rewrite the secular constitution.

They can still keep playing cat & mouse in the courts hoping to wear down and bankrupt the companies selling alcohol though.

This is true. At the moment though, the real threat to freedom and liberty from a religious point of view is Islam. It used to be Christianity in Europe several hundred years ago. The same fanaticism, the same hate, the same atrocities carried out in the name of a pretend makey-uppy deity. I'm so glad we managed to change our ways and got away from all that here (for the most part). Extremist Christians in the UK - like Stephen Green - are usually considered nothing less than the national laughing stocks they really are. A boil on the ass of humanity, and such people generally have pretty bad records themselves.

Though I am a christian I will say that when religion gets to big it becomes apart of politcal thinking and is to invovled in politics then it becomes corrupted much like how Islam has been corrupted in the middel east.

I agree with you there. However, I think that "Islam is dangerous" is a very ambiguous phrase. Are you claiming that there is something about the Koran which means that it cannot help but be interpreted in a way that promotes regressive values? Or are you claiming that, statistically, modern-day Muslims tend to have regressive values?

As you probably know, there are basically two types of anti-Islam thought. One of them is atheist, and says that all religions are potentially dangerous nonsense and that Islam is currently the most dangerous. The other is Christian, and says that Islam is barbaric precisely because it is based on the Koran and not the Bible. By saying "Islam is dangerous", it's hard to tell which one you mean.

For this reason, I think that instead of vocally attacking the phantom problem "Islam", you should instead vocally defend progressive values. In doing so, you will make precisely the enemies that you ought to make. And yes, many of them will be Muslims.

A close friend of mine is a muslim I do not believe that Islam is dangerous but I do believe that it becomes dangerous when it is used as a poltical tool to encourage muslim to sucide bomb and kill people for not being muslim.

This is what I mean, yes. The freedom to eat pork, to have promiscuous sex, to drink alcohol in considerable quantity, to not have to go to church and to voluntary go to church or mosque, to watch porn, for free speech, to vote for any political party you want (including Nazis and communists) and not have the threat of or suffering actual violent assault or intimidation for doing so, to take drugs if one wants to, to eat unhealthy foods, to live in safety and security, to not be persecuted for being a different religion or even no religion at all and everything else in between. And also the freedom not to indulge too.

Why are there so many people like Condell and Tequila around these days? Why are there so many people who go on and on about Islam, but who insist that race means nothing to them, and who proudly declare their love for Israel, even though they are not jewish? Whose interests are they really serving? Where do these memes come from?

Well, consider the English Defence League. It was originally formed in England as a protest by some young, working class Englishmen sickened by the sight of British Muslims protesting against British soldiers who had just returned from the war in Afghanistan.

Within a few years the English Defence League had grown into a sizeable group, prone to marching around with an Israeli flag and proudly proclaiming that race meant nothing to them.

Here is a video of one of their spiritual leaders letting out a freudian slip.

Strange that an American rabbi should have the time, money and inclination to come over to Britain and lecture working-class British Whites about what to think. Sounds like something from a conspiracy theory, doesn't it?
