If Atheism is a belief then not collecting stamps is a hobby.

Lets rephrase this for you so you can see how silly this statement is:

Why is that so? Belief is about someone's position.

...huh? Atheism is the lack of belief in deities.

LACK OF belief.

Like I said before, if Atheism is a belief, then not collecting stamps is a hobby, or being unemployed is a job.

to be fair, people that don't collect stamps don't organize and hold rallies about about not collecting stamps

I don't' think it's possible to have a lack of belief once you've been exposed to the idea to consider. If you define atheism as the lack of belief in God, then babies could be called atheists, but people that are grown up are certainly not in the same situation a newborn baby.

Because people who do collect stamps aren't running around trying to pass laws and get current laws changed in the name of collecting stamps.

Quite simple, really.

I don't think that is a good analogy at all.

What? You are quite out there man.

It is very possible to lack belief in something you've been exposed too. I've been exposed to ideas ranging from your invisible zombie in the sky to ghosts and ancient curses. I don't believe in almost any of them.

Let me put it this way, if I expose you to the idea that I am your god, is it impossible for you to not believe I am your god? Of course not, that would be silly.

You have at least affirmed the notion, and you have made a decision where to stand on their possibility, it's not a non-position.

I don't believe you are God. But to say that I lack a belief totally isn't correct, and it's presumptuous.

If he was catholic it would be a preist but since he is not its God and if atheism isnt a belieif why do they so strongly follow it and it not be considered a belief?

You do lack belief though.

The idea is "I am your god."

Your response was "I don't believe you're god."

"...don't believe..."

"...DON'T BELIEVE..."

See? You even said it right there. You lack belief in the idea that I am your god.
