-I thought babies came out of your stomach until my mum showed me her nursing textbooks
-when I was a preteen my friend got her first training bra, I told my mum that I wanted my first training bra starter kit because that's what I thought my friend meant
-I was afraid of using escalators because I thought you could get sucked into one at the bottom so I always held my mum's hand and jumped as I high as I could when I was at the bottom
-I thought my mum was magic because she'd always do magical tricks for us
-I thought my parents were the most intelligent people in the whole world and they were right about everything
-I used to believe that brown cows produced chocolate milk
-I thought you could dye your eyes to a different colour
-I used to believe my mum when she said I have eyes in the back of my head
-I thought the more moles you had the more prettier and intelligent you were just because my grandma called them beauty marks
-I thought adults were rich and always had money on them
-I thought you could marry your siblings when you grew up
-I always pronounced February, Febuary
-When I was younger I thought there was no numbers higher than 100 for the longest time
-I thought that E.T was real and I was always scared that I'd see his hand coming out of the side of the bed against the wall
-when I was really young I used to think that people on television could actually see me and hear me
-I used to think Star Trek was pronounced Star Track
-I used to think hookers would use a hook to cut you and then have sex with you...thanks to my friend
-I thought that people in costumes and clowns were real
-I thought teachers lived in the school
-I thought that the cord of the telephone went through the phone and was connected to the person on the other line that you were talking to
-I thought that blow jobs meant blowing on the penis
-I was scared of using outhouses or portapotties because I thought a hand might grab my bum and pull me into the hole
-I thought that if you didn't finish your food in restaurants that you'd hurt the cook's feelings |

That, and Liverpool - Liberfool - a lot of people where I'm from still do. I also thought 'making eyes' would literally mean blinking at someone to signal them you're interested - I did that to my crush. |

I thought a blow job just meant snogging a lot.
That 13 year olds were super grown up.
That highschool would be just like an American children's sitcom.

I did. I actually had a hard time with the fact that the world was round. I didn't figure that out until I was like 8. I asked my parents what "the first country" was.
-I thought that English was the only language anyone could understand and when people spoke other languages, no one could understand
-I thought that babies got in their mom's tummies when the mom asked God to put one in there
-I thought all bands were marching bands
-I thought that people I considered "ugly" couldn't have a sense of humour
-I thought that if someone had long hair, they were a girl, and if they had short hair, they were a boy
-I thought that if someone owned a horse, they would keep in their house and let her/him out when he/his wanted to like an outdoor cat or a dog
-I thought that I was one of the only in the world with grandparents
-I thought everyone died on their 100th birthday
-I called my great-grandmother, my "grape-grandmother"
-I thought that the grade 2 students (and older) would always look HUGE to me (this was when I was in Kindergarten),
-I thought that the reason why my parents didn't offer me alcohol, was solely because they didn't think I'd like the taste
-I thought if someone got drunk once, they would end up being drunk for the rest of the life, even if they never had another drink
-I thought the dad was involved so when the mom went to the mall, the child would have someone to look after them, but had no role in making the child (enough said)
-I thought that men bought their body hair (which I called "fluffies") and that women bought their breasts (which I called "ashes")
-I thought that my cat was the biggest cat in the world (and she was actually quite small) because when I went to the SPCA to visit once, their was a cat that was smaller than my cat
-I thought that if I played with kids I didn't know and just met on the playground, they would kill me
-I thought that hair could be any colour, including pink, naturally
-I thought the math I'd do in high school would just be adding really, really, really, really high numbers
-I thought that "North American Indians" were the same as "Indians from India" _________________ I fell. It didn't hurt. Big deal.

I thought all babies were born with clothes on.
I thought my aunts and uncles were just my mum's friends.
I thought everybody was really mature and serious at High School (before I started up there).
I thought the Earth was flat (I think most kids do).
I thought all cartoons were real, not animated drawings.
I thought Father Christmas was one of my mum's friends
I thought baby girls were made in the mum's womb, and after knowing that men can't get pregnant, I wondered how boys were made.
I thought I would be a little kid forever.
I thought everybody saw me as a completely different person to what I really was, for some reason.
I thought every time you see a policeman, he will come and arrest you.
I thought radiators had to be on constantly all the time, even in the summer.
I thought dragons were real, right up to the age of 13.
I thought people kiss people in authority when they leave, like bus-drivers kissing every passenger or shop assistants kissing every customer
I thought once a women starts her periods, she got them every single day for the rest of her life
I thought the wall outside the local supermarket was really high, when it actually comes upto my waste now.
I thought you caught chicken pox from chickens.
I thought cancer was a virus what you can catch from other people.
I thought teachers had a special tool where they could watch me what I was doing at home, then if I was naughty they'll give me a detention in school.
I thought my brother was all grown up when he was 7 because he was going up to Junior School and I was just starting school
I thought 10 o'clock was really really late and used to feel worried if I was still up near that time _________________ Real gender: Female

I believed that the actual world before around 1950 was all black and white, and then suddenly around that time it changed to color (because all the old movies were black and white).
I believed that dogs could run faster than us because their back legs are longer than their front so they were always running downhill. _________________ I would rather have my liver pecked out by a giant crow than spend a day at the mall. But I'd pay money to see a giant crow eat a mall.

I thought that adults usually knew what they were talking about, even when what they were saying sound wrong or crazy.
I recall believing that the moon would chase me home when I was in a car late at night.
That if I dug deep enough in my backyard, I would find a new dinosaur species.
That girls were too busy trying to stay pretty to have any real fun with.
That I might end up married to my elementary school music teacher one day. |
