What's wrong with the guy at the bottom is that he's nearly exposing himself.
That's the point of this photo.
But I am really waiting wolf's reply on this.
Are muscular skinny guys considered feminine now?
I wouldn't really say that Robert Pattinson (for example) is muscular. Furthermore, his facial features aren't really manly either.
I do think, though, that Arnie and Franco were a bit over-the-top in terms of muscle, even compared to what was considered ideal in the 70's.
What about someone like Bruce Lee?
Bruce Lee was all muscle and could bench 320 lbs. Not to mention the fact that his testosterone level went through the skies after he started juicing.
Exactly, yet he's of the skinny-muscular category.
also, of the zombie category

He had an ectomorphic build, but he still packed more muscle than your average pretty boy does. Having said that, Zac Efron has buffed up a little recently and could probably bench around 280 lbs. I'd say he has decent physique:

Oh look, there's a cute bird over there.
Ha, not at all, jokes are cool.
It takes something good and bigoted or ignorant to get me riled up.
Zac Effron will always be a high schooler to me, high school =! hot
the ads for his new movie have been awkward to watch _________________ If your success is defined as being well adjusted to injustice and well adapted to indifference, then we don’t want successful leaders. One thing I've noticed, though, is that 40 year old women tend to prefer masculine men, whereas many 20 year old women like feminine men.
Nooo I'm 41 and I prefer skinny pasty feminine men like Noel Fielding and Matt Smith.
I don't like masculine men at all and usually I don't find their personalities attractive either.
Come to think of it, the 80s were the era of feminine men. Well, as far as all the British musicians were concerned at least.

I was implying that the standard of beauty has changed for men as well as women and how people follow it like sheep. I'm not stating that a leaner physique or body type makes one more masculine or feminine, I'm stating that as the standards change, Hollywood aims to be prettier and prettier which isn't indicative of the reality.
Is a slimmer physique of an endurance athlete or runner healthier than the Schwarzenegger physique in the long run? Probably, yes but people will believe in what the media standard is at that time. People will copy what they see on television regardless of the consequences, even going to extremes to fit an exaggerated media image or phenotype and by doing so, they no longer live by their own expectations but the expectations of the media.

those men looked like different versions of a similar type. some were heavily muscled and some were less so, but they all had big visible muscles.
by the way, Arnold Schwarzenegger was an action hero, but not so much a sex symbol. his fans were mostly males. and i don't know the name of the other guy from the 80s, which should be some indication of how popular he was. maybe he also played action heroes? action heros are mostly popular with men, not with women.
here are a couple of men who were actually popular with women in the 1980s:

Jean Claude Van Damme, he was an actor and martial artist.
And yes, you're totally right about this action here thing, they were admired by men but not much by women (yet we can't probe their untold fantasies).
