The same thing could be said about the Republican party. The more asinine the utterances of a Republican presidential candidate, the bigger the campaign contributions. At least that was my impression of the 2012 GOP primary. I'm a bit surprised that none of the candidates thought of "rape 'em straight". Santorum's "rape pregnancy is a gift from god" already came pretty close to this level of wrongness.

I've heard dumber. A lot of people are amazingly idiotic when it comes to anyone who isn't straight, trying to *cure* them and all

I agree, I am kind of offended even though I am not gay, It is up to the mods though. I have compassion for those who are gay because I know a few good people and friends who are gay. I know It is probably meant to be humorous and such and people are entitled to their own opinions but I dont think it is funny.

What? This is not a flame bait thread, he is sharing an actual event. The only thing meant to be (darkly) humorous is the stupidity of the concept

This. Very much this. Any offense was unintentional and my fullest apologies are offered.

i don't think it needs locking. but seeing as how it does involve an LGBT issue, i'm moving the thread over from PPR.

the DJ didn't say the daughter should be raped, but depending on her age he could have been suggesting statutory rape. the reports only say she was "teenaged", so she may or may not be above the age of majority. we don't know, and we don't even know if the DJ was aware. either way, the suggestion that a man should persuade a friend to have sex with his teenaged daughter is creepy. :eew:

That would be great except that this guy is not a republican. He's a dumb popular-in-highschool roidhead who's part of the peanut gallery on a least common denominator radio show. Also, while say that a lesbian just hadn't been f'd right or that a gay guy just needs to f' a duck or toughen up is backward and sexist in its own right its not even close to equivocal of rape.

Like I said, I'm going to need to see where he said anything about duress or force.

Issues like this - ie. people saying highly sexist things about LGBT in the public sphere - needs to be dealt with, however when people overreact to the point of creating wholesale fiction and disproportionate reactions, guess who gets hurt by that? LGBT.

yeah, it's a little embarrassing that it got inflated to become rape in the media. Jezebel reported it correctly, interestingly.

I think the 'rape' reasoning was that if she's really a lesbian, then she wouldn't consent to straight sex, so the only way the man's friend could have sex with her is through rape. This is a black and white view of sexuality, which ignores the fact that lesbians can and do consent to straight sex in a variety of contexts. However, it's not uncommon for people to think that way, though.

I just never think talking about rape is funny I mean so many people have been victims of rape. Btw that is so true I know lesibens that have slept with a guy just for fun.

I listened to that show a few years ago, when Rover was on during my morning commute.
That was clearly just an attempt to get attention and publicity by the show.
They do all kinds of dumb things for publicity.
Also, the guy who plays 'Dieter' on the show is acting. Based on a friend who interned in their studio, he's nowhere near as dumb in real life as he is on air.
It's all an act.

The people who should be ashamed of themselves are the news outlets that run this story.
People should just ignore cheap tactics like this.

I get the impression most guys don't see lesbians as 100%, enough guys claim that they have fooled around or do fool around with lesbians. The implication was still quite 60's/70's macho - bang her right and she'll go straight, however - I don't know.....on one hand it seems more than a little naive to imply that lesbian means, in certainty, no men and also odd that this many people jumped to the absolute worst case interpretation ahead of any actual thought.
