Wow, a lot of you are super hard core with your training plans, I'm impressed. I guess exercise isn't particularly a special interest, so I don't obsess over it, I go to the gym three or four times a week because I'm 42, and there comes an age, apparently, when you have to choose between chub and exercise. The chub began to creep in, so I chose exercise.
The gym was very overwhelming at first, I made my teenager accompany me the first few times. Then I discovered classes! I love school! The classes have a schedule, a precise start and finish time, a somewhat predictable routine, and, at my gym, intelligent instructors who enjoy teaching a bit of fitness physiology along with the class.
I position myself in the very back row, and I'm quite uncoordinated, and I get giggled at sometimes. I have found a couple of buddies who also stick to the back row who are also less coordinated. Some of them just sort of do their own thing for the whole class, they just seem to like to be in the class. We are not alone.... _________________ "The measure of a man's estimate of your strength is the kind of weapons he feels that he must use in order to hold you fast in a prescribed place." Currently I'm at 185 lbs, and I don't know what my body fat percentage is though. I used to be at 200 lbs, but because I started drinking water and less soda. As well as eating a little better than my usual diet. I've been able to keep myself under 200 for the time being. I've also started jogging everyday in the morning to help out a bit. _________________ " Tetris: The game that teaches you that mistakes pile up, and achievements disappear. "

I do... Been into lifting & bodybuilding for almost 30 years (I'm 45 now). I eat right, and that means a lot of good proteins and no fats, and very little carbs. That works best for me because I'm not as active as I used to be, so I don't need as much in carbs.
As far as the gym, I have a 3-way split routine: Day A; delts, traps. Day B; pecs, lats. Day C; Bi's, tri's, and legs. I do abs 7 days, and I alternate between long light and short heavy for the abs (light=350 basic crunches, and heavy = 8 or 9 sets of machine crunches and/or weighted leg raises at 200-245lbs). I've been at the size I want for several years, so I don't usually push all the way to fail on the last set of anything, but sometimes I do.
I'm standing in my avatar with a 590-lb siren head, which I'm holding with wrist hooks. I cheated; I didn't deadlift it, but I picked it up from a truck bed, and took 2 steps back for the photo.

Wow bro you are in great freaking shape! i could only dream to be that cut up! like I have said before, I am too lazy. What I have now, I do work hard for though. Dont get that twisted!
I have noticed a lot of you say we obsess over things. So true! We put 110% into whatever we do! Guess thats why I have always been good at sports! I am very competitive. I am far from clumsy! Unlike most here. I am really athletic!
I had no idea so many of you here on WP, work out. It surprised me!

You've got grade A physique, man! Ripped, without being too blocky.
I started working out when I started ice skating, initially just messing around in hockey skates, then eventually moving to figure skating. Skating got me from high blood pressure/bad health at 210-215lbs, to good blood pressure at 180lbs, with skating, some dieting and a few days a week doing punching bag work.
I started lifting weights just to help skate better, initially with the leg press, then I became a man and started squatting, haha. Because of skating and naturally having tree trunk legs, I could squat a decent amount without much trying. Then I did deadlifts, then clean and jerks, standing overhead presses, and snatches, and occasionally incline bench.
For me, I love lower body exercises, it's great being able to surprise people being able to pick up heavy stuff off the ground, and I see a huge improvement in daily activities, being able to, say, jump on top of picnic tables like a kid. But again, they help skating exponentially, so yeah.
For skating, there's a few sorta specialized things I do, I do weighted slideboard slides, usually with 15s in each hand. Another thing I gotta work on but suck at is pistols, or single leg squats, my main issue with that is balance.
As far as diet, my main problem is eating clean, I hover at like 195lbs, now I'm hopefully temporarily at 200, due to being on vacation and not working out or being able to skate, and eating out most meals. Bleh. I'm like 18-20% bodyfat now, I'd like to get down to 10 or so, or maybe get to 175-180lbs again, but this time be ripped at 180 instead of my old flabbyish 180.
Lower weight is ideal for me, I so wish I was an ectomorph, but I'm meso/endo. For skating, you need power to weight ratio, so for me, I only wish to gain strength, any added muscles is sorta coincidental for me working out. I don't take much of a bodybuilder perspective when working out, just wanna gain strength.
But yeah, that's what I do, I guess I do like it a lot. Skating, and then basically doing mostly lower body compounds and Olympic lifts. I'd say snatches are my favorite lift, very hard techniquewise, but fun. If you do them for reps, it's excellent cardio. Clean and jerks/presses are fun, too. _________________ Too kawaii to live...

Yeah, I will definitely lose that war lol Its so good though! I love ketchup on my pizza! 7% is still really freaking good! The lowest I have ever gotten was 9-10%.
One thing I wanted to tell you and keep forgetting..... If I were to do it all over I would maintain in the 12-14% range. The problem with keeping below 10% is that if something happens to you healthwise your body doesn't have the energy reserves from fat that you need and starts to gobble up muscle. If you're in the 12-14% range now I'd stick with it.

Yeah I wouldn't go below 10%. I am aiming for 11% at the moment. Very good point though! I never thought of it like that.

I just noticed your name... KX250 rider. I freaking love dirtbikes. I have a 2001 CR250r. Not a big fan of KX though.
Check this out; Me on my 2002 YZ125 which has a whole lot more snap than my 250. It turned out to be stolen. I paid 1300 for it though.
I used to work out obsessively at the gym when I was in my early twenties, I'm female so back then I copped many a raised eyebrow at my physique. I was not delicate flower to say the least but never gave a sh!t.
Years later, that phase passed and I found with simply working with horses and running a large property on a daily basis, that my muscle memory was always enough to keep me more then just 'toned', but none of us are getting any younger and after three years of treating my body like a night club (life got in the way), I finally had enough of myself and turned a corner.
My motto now is 'strong is the new skinny' because lets face it, I like to eat! Skinny was never going to be part of my equation and I would never ever starve myself to be that way.
I now treat my body like a temple. I still do lots of core exercises because I lift weight repetitively as part of my work and need to keep my back protected, I supplement my fitness with cardio now so I don't bulk up too much. Twice a week I do 10kms of steep hill work and run 5kms three to four days a week and I eat a healthy low fat,low carb, lean protein diet (I do, on occasion spoil myself).
I'm 171cm and weight 64kg. (What's that, five seven-ish and 140lbs?) and feel great!

Me too... I don't ride as much as I used to, especially since in CA, they closed most places to ride unless you have a 4-stroke, and I don't get a thrill out of a 4-stroke dirt bike . I've had CRs also, and I probably like the pre-2005 CRs better than KX, but I happen to have gotten the best deals on KX for my last few bikes. I do have a '94 CR125 that I ride once in awhile on trails at our ranch, because the KX250 is no fun for slow technical stuff. In fact I can't get the KX250 beyond 2nd gear on my practice track. It's mainly like trials maneuvers... Rocks, and a lot of boots-on-ground hopping over rocks, and stuff. The CR125 is great on that stuff, and it's beat to crap, so I don't care if I bang up the frame, etc. I even have a couple of spare parts bikes for it .
I workout 4 times a week, currently on a 4-split program (Chest/Biceps - Quads/Hamstring - Shoulders/Triceps - Back/Calves/Abs). Each session often last around 2 hours, which makes it roughly 6 hours a week + I go for a jog occasionally, endurance isn't my main priority at the moment... Currently working towards putting on some weight, managed to put on a decent amount during a couple of months and I'm now at 80kg. Confidence is the key for me working out, as I struggle with low-selfesteem and other AS traits. If I weren't working out I could see myself being bullied physically , as I'm a pretty shy and quite guy.
Pros and cons with having AS for me has to be:
Pros:
- I'm good at organizing and keeping track of my workouts.
- I'm determined.
Cons:
- I eat far to little and I'm picky when it comes to food, although this is something that I've been trying to improve lately.
- Sleeping problems.
- Social phobia, resulting in me only working out at home, and not in a gym.
