i can assure you: you will get a false peace.
right around the same time the Catholic Church Inc. will announce that Jesus was not, in fact, the messiah, but just another one of the string of prophet's sent by God, thus merging Catholicism with Islam and embracing Mohammed as the ultimate prophet, pitting that super religion of fanatics and zealots against the poor little peaceful Christians who will be set upon like jackals on a zebra carcass.

No joke - do you mind if I jack this for a movie script? 'Cause I think it could sell, and I need a new project to work on.

yes i do mind actually because i stole it from someone else.. and he and i butt heads over this stuff all the time... but its all in good Faith.

Wait...wasn't that from a Chick Track originally?

Jack Chick is a laugh riot - - but he's such a hate filled fanatic that he doesn't even know it. Confused

Every time I hear a Christian say that sentence, my hope for humanity increases. Thank you, Kraich. Thank you.

Though I am myself a Christian (though hardly always a good one), I can say: anytime. Cool

That is true; in fact those christians with the biggest voices tend to encourage our economic system.

To be sure, though, there are those Christians who - mostly of liberal theology - teach a social gospel, and liberation theology.

Clearly you hate fun.

no, clearly you do not understand what the purpose of life is.
you might need to pick up a Bible and start reading.

Cover-to-cover. I find your god, as depicted, to be vain, selfish, cruel, petty, and sadistic, and I find the historic actions of most of his worshipers to be similar (and their modern actions to be motivated by ethically irresponsible ignorance and hate).

Jesus was pretty cool. Shame his disciples (and resulting church) were/is filled with so many incompetent morons, but what're ya gonna do, right?

Funny you should mention that. I was raised a liberal secular athiest. I find liberals and athiests, as I experienced them, to be vain, selfish, cruel, petty, and sadistic, and I find the historic actions of most liberals and athiests to be similar (and their modern actions to be motivated by ethically irresponsible ignorance and hate). That's what propelled me into Christianity.

Your argument has three gaping holes in it: 1) Old Testament prophesy has a short term parallel and a long-term parallel.

That is only for people who want to fill their heads with scary stories.

No he isn't.

Longshanks wrote:
though it is easy to see your confusion with the short-term prophesy, which was the fall of Babylon.

The confusion is thine.

That was discussed in detail in the Book of Daniel.

Where?

3) You don't take into account the differences between ancient Hebrew and Modern English and the meanings lost thereof. I'm at a disadvantage becaue I can't get this computer to type the Hebrew/Caldean alphabet - and that's necessary to show you what has been lost in translation between the English and Hebrew languages and how they communicated.

I don't speak Hebrew, and would gladly defer to any of our Jewish members concerning the best translation and appropriate interpretation of the passage.

I'm going to address one point at a time. There's a lot here.

1st Point: The Bible warned us of this as a warning sign of the end times. In fact, Jesus, the prophet Daniel, and the Apostle John in Revelation all spoke of this. See Daniel 9, 11, 12, Matthew 24:4-31, Revelation 13....

Thou dost know the definition (and correct spelling) of the word avarice, dost thou not?

Definition of Avarice wrote:
(noun) excessive or insatiable desire for weath or gain

Conservatives regard avarice as a great virtue.

Where, in any of thy cited Biblical passages, doth it say anything about an excess of avarice being a warning sign of the end times?

...2nd Point: China is now the world's biggest consumer, and will be one of the forces at Armegeddon - Greek for Har Megido - Hebrew for the Valley of Megido in Israel - the perfect place for a battlefield....

Longshanks

Nope, the USA is still Number 1.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_consumer_markets

China is up to number 4, but still has a LONG way to go to catch up to the USA.

And, China will be giving Armageddon a pass.

Revelations 16:16 wrote:

China doesn't have a king. The Bible does not characterize Armageddon as "the perfect place for a battle", and doesn't even say that a battle will take place there--only that the spirits brought the kings together there. Not a whole lot of countries have kings any more.

Hilariously, I was raised semi-Christian (religion wasn't relevant to my family's life, but my parents are vaguely Christian). However, I'll toss this one out there: you find me someone killed in the name of Atheism and we'll talk.

Well, let's see, I know of a guy named Mao Tse Tung who killed off millions of Christians, and let's not forget Joe Stalin who killed off millions of Christians and Jews - 33 million to be precise, and let's not forget Hitler, who killed over 6 million people. Now, your point is?

None of those people killed anyone in the name of Atheism; Mao and Stalin did it for power, and Hitler did it because of racial eugenics (and DA CRAZY, of course). You won't find any atheists bombing churches, murdering abortion doctors, et cetera - but you will find Christians doing it in the name of Christ.

That's the great thing about the world, we don't know where the hell we're going. We might as well just sit back and enjoy the trip.
