I read Prozac Nation when it first came out. Have you ever read the Culture of Narcissm? It's by Christopher Lasch. I bought that in 1979 when it first came out.
I'm reading The Hacienda by Lisa St. Aubin de Teran, Failed States by Chomsky and The Great Transformation.

You've got some interesting books there jimservo. Animal Farm is one of my favourites, and Orwell's 1984.

I haven't looked at The Golden Bough in many years, but it was fascinating. Frazer was a wild and crazy guy by the standards of his day. Maybe any day, now that I think about it.
At the moment I'm reading the following, in bits and pieces (which is the only way I read anything at all these days):
Principles of Art, R. G. Collingwood
The Crooked Inheritance, Marge Piercy
The Brief History of the Dead, Kevin Brockmeier
I haven't started in on The Haraway Reader by Donna Haraway yet, but it's in the pile. I also want to get my hands on Loren Eiseley's All the Strange Hours. Also every poetry book ever written by Kay Ryan, as soon as possible. |

"Out of this World" (An Examination of Modern Physics an Cosmology) by Hyman Frankel.
I haven't actually started that last one yet, and even then, it's all of four years out of date!
Most are library books, and I have to finish BotB soon, because I've already borrowed the final part, and that has to go back next week (someone has irritatingly reserved it!). |
