I am ageist in only one aspect. I know that, as a general rule, older people have more experience. All that means to me is that I don't expect a 3yo to be familiar with string theory or a 16yo to have visited Knossos.

I don't know about Knossos, but by sixteen I had visited The Bahamas, England (London), Israel (Jerusalem, Tel Aviv), and Jordan (Petra ruins) as well as most of the 46 (United) States...

Edit: and Canada (forgot about that)

Good for you, and I wish I'd been to that many places.

It doesn't show up too well, but I did put "expect" in italics.

If the 3yo turns out to know a bit of M-plane theory, I'll listen, 'cos I don't understand that too well (if at all Smile ).

I've only spent a day at Knossos (Crete, Minotaur, and all that), so if the 16yo has spent the summer doing a dig there, I'd be fascinated.

Hopefully, I've usually got something useful to give back. Confused

yay! interesting responses by everyone!! I'm here for several reasons.

1. to understand what "aspergers" is.

2. to cope with it, and relate to other people on the spectrum.

3. to fulfill curiousity. (each member has something insightful or humorous to add to the forum)

i'm sure there's more reasons. but thats all for now.

plus, this site is addictive. Shocked

I'm here to see what other people with Asperger's are like and to see how they live their lives. I'm also kinda bored. Wink

I joined WP when I was 14,a year after I learned of my diagnosis of HFA. I wanted to talk to other people who went through the same things I did and has the same struggles.

I originally came here to be educated about AS by the experts who are considered AS,rather then the "specialist",who I have found to be constantly, unapologetically wrong about......almost everything.

I stayed, because I "met" people I thought were intelligent, humorous and shared some of my perceptions. Also have been given some great links to information and entertainment links I was unaware of.It's so nice not to be told that.....

"you think to much, you are such a black and white thinker, quit worrying about it and just be happy, why dont you smile more?
You are so self-centered,why dont you care how I feel you...... insensitive, cold fish."

People may think those things about me here but they dont say it and it allows me to be my own "defective"self without all the energy of trying to analysis every word before I type it.

I am also a bit odd for an aspie,in that one of my interests has always been.....people....how they think, what they feel, what they do.The smaller the detail, the more interesting it is to me.

I'm not exactly sure why I came to this forum. I joined the day I realized that I had Asperger's syndrome. I've always had a strange feeling that I was some how different from everyone else, but I don't feel like that here so that is probably why I decided to stay.

Me too. I don't need wp to make friends as I have friends in real life, but I like hearing other peoples views who view the world similarly to me. I also like the fact that I can share my own opinions to an understanding crowd. I would rather not get too much into the online world as I don't think anything could replace face to face relationships, but I wish I had had this back when I didn't have friends, because this site probably would have saved me from a lot of pain.

Because this is one place where I can be myself. Not the only place, but one place. Because sometimes it helps to read that others have the same difficulties as I do. Because if I have a bad day, I could post something on here.

i am VERY inclined to agree claradoon and i came here after reading all the stuff on asperger's syndrome or AS and found that all the info was biased and from an NT perspective and it was very limited. I Also came here to find out that im not the ONLY one with the same issues
