I'm an agnostic atheist with anti-theist tendencies.

Nominally Christian deist and student of stoic philosophy.

i was raised roman catholic, i had my first communion when i was eight, my sister three years later. pretty much right after that our family stopped going to church every sunday and i transitioned into "i don't give a crap either way" thinker. naturally my grandparents, also some of my mothers siblings are much more devout.

my father supports racial equality, evolution and does NOT advocate physical violence against women but his views on LGBTQ rights are something along the lines of "i'll just be attacked if i object so i'll just shut up and watch from the sidelines".

nothing wrong with religion and believing in deities, just don't go flaunting them EVERYWHERE.

I have no religious affiliation if anything I tend to devote time trying to convince religious folks there is no god and that its a waste of time!

atheist, antinatalist. I find life to be disgusting as well as sentience mostly sentience life isn't exactly immoral in its own its when nature starts f*****g with sentience and creates victims.

I was baptize has an Orthodox (you know that Christian faith they practice in Eastern Europe, Russia, the Balkans and Greece) when I was 7 months old.
But for me that is all BS, I consider myself has an atheist, has a non believer, has an infidel and I strongly reject the idea of the imaginary friend and I consider the holly books has perfect pieces of paper to light up a barbecue or to roll a jay with...

I'm a panentheistic monist, as well as a Discordian (for the lulz, except srsly). Having been raised in a Christian-majority culture, I have a good-enough handle on Christianity that my beliefs are well-mapped to that domain - not quite as well as the domains of mathematics or metaphysics, better than to the positivist-empiricist ontology that most "Science!" aficionados cohere to - but I don't consider or label myself as Christian in most contexts.

On the other hand, a negativist-empiricist epistemology incorporating the insights of Critical Rationalism and Critical Theory is even easier for me to map to than to a Christian weltanschauung. This leads me to suspect that, for some subsets of the set of all religious anti-scientific persons, the anti-scientific attitude emerges as a function of the lack-of-coherence between the prevalent scientific epistemic models and the cognitive structures of said persons.

Religion isn't a waste of time. Arguing about it sure is, though!

I'm spiritual, but not religious. Religious people interpret this as a me being a lost soul looking for a religion. Atheists interpret this as being an atheist in denial.

While I AM raised in the Catholic Church, and still go there not missing a Sunday in over a year, as I enjoy the peaceful nature of the Mass, SINGING, AND what my old Tennis buddy from high school who is now the Monsignor has to say about his interpretation of Christianity.

I am not attached to any particular religion, although the Gospel of Thomas reflects much of my own personal connection with the GOD of Mother Nature True, if those are truly the words of a man that is now named as Jesus in our modern times.

Different cultures have different languages to talk to each other, different dialects and such as that so it only stands to REASON that different cultures would have different religious languages to describe their experience and observation of GOD.

But of course the essence of All That IS aka GOD stays the same, whether it is a Jew, Gentile, Christian, Buddhist or dog, who is concerned or if it is a GOD that is dog, Buddhist, Christian, Gentile, AND Jew that is GOD aka All That IS.

So yeah, I can feel comfortable among all opinions of HUMAN difference as well as churches with differing languages to describe their experiences and observations of the GOD THAT IS all THAT IS. :)

Everyone has a language for what they see as GOD whether it is the Atheist and science or the fundamentalist Christian and an old white haired patriarchal dude, as an anthropomorphic metaphor.

I understand why, and that's enough for me, to SEE the TRUTH THAT THE essence of GOD does exist as ALL THAT IS.

Hmm... I'm not trying to pick a fight, but I am curious. What does that actually mean to you?

...because when I hear that phrase, it makes me think, "superstitious but without a moral/ethical code."

The practical purpose of religion, to my mind, is the transmission of morals and ethics (not that one cannot be moral and ethical without being religious, because they can, obviously).

'Christian deist'? first time I've ever heard that.. isn't that an oxymoron?
if you believe in the divinity of jesus then you aren't a deist.
if you don't you aren't a christian.
