Fedoras aren't so bad, especially with a small feather or flower on the side.

This is one of those "female point of view", "male point of view" things.

From the female point of view, androgyny is sexy and mysterious, that combo of alluring and forbidden drives you guys wild. Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Perry Farrel, all dandies, all very popular with the ladies.

Women are supposed to wear hats in church as a form of modesty; nuns and orthodox Jews cover their hair as well.

Head covering=non-sexual.

This is how it registers to me. It just knocks you off my radar. If you like it, go ahead, but it won't be considered attractive. Might as well stuff a sock in your pants, know what I mean?

Not with yours:

Can't help myself:

This is another example of the phenomenon I call the Female Negative Feedback Loop (FNFL), where women back-pat each other for their ignorance, and the manifestations of such grow in size and scope with each cycle of the loop.

It's time to lower the Man Boom.

See, women dress for other women.

Men don't give half a crap about your shoes unless we're pervs, trying to manipulate you, or you're standing on our toes. We don't care about pedicures. I will not allow glitter within a twenty foot radius of my body, dwelling, or possessions, because once they're there, they never go away and spread around to the oddest places - the herpes of the fashion world.

Ever notice how all of these things that women MUST HAVE are expensive? I compare this to passing the Bar exam or obtaining a real estate license. It's not something that's really necessary on a practical level, it's just that the people who have established themselves like to set up barriers to entry. Supply and demand.

Women are bitchslapping each other with the Invisible Hand.

A few posts back there was a gripe about what a woman "needs" to look like in NYC. These fashions are set by the women at the top, and are designed to keep out the riff raff, eliminate competition through attrition. The thing is, men don't want a gold-digging clothes horse, a woman that will treat him like a walking ATM, they want a sexy woman.

Men see this battle, and feel like that Navy dude at the end of "Lord of the Flies"; what the hell is even going on here?

Speaking of what the hell, check out ihatecapripants.

If (straight) men designed clothes for women, well, let's just say it would be a lot easier to visually gauge the ambient temperature.

Cost effective, efficient, sexy.

In a pile on the floor.

In short - draw attention TOWARDS your femininity, DON'T replace it with masculinity. Women's hair is one of their most important and attractive features. Most men don't even realize it, its that profound.

A fur or wool hat still emulates the look of hair, and registers in our brains as such. I like obviously-dyed hair a lot, like Milla Jovovich in "The Fifth Element". Bright coloured barrettes are good too, because they draw attention without overpowering, and can make short hair "cute" instead of "distancing".

As I said before about the baseball cap looking good - it's because the ponytail sticks out. Get in front of a mirror and try and notice the difference between how you look with your hair tucked in and your hair in a ponytail. Ask men what they think.

Is it true that men prefer long hair on women? I've been told by some other women I should get my hair cut short because it would be neater and "easier to look after" but I don't think short hair looks good on me.

Just about every man will say he prefers long hair. I keep my hair long for that reason, even though I actually look good in short hair too.

Long hair takes more care (more time washing, blow-drying, etc.), but if you let it get long enough, you can just put it all in a ponytail or nice clip, which is easier than styling short hair IMO.

I quite like short hair on a woman actually. Maybe I'm not a 'man' then, good for that Very Happy

Pony tail? Fair enough but not an eye opener by any stretch.

You'd notice it's absence.

Those pics I posted are of the same woman, for contrast.

Short hair does not equal MAN HAIR.

Obserruv:

Is nice!

I disagree with this pigeon. This hairstyle is not worth crapping on.

Hillary's surprised that Bill cheats on her, but I'm not.

There's a difference between "cute" and "I don't care about being sexy".

The point is that you are seeing her hair, and not an artificial hair covering we associate with our grandfather.

If the sole intent is "easily managed hair" the effect is "not on the market".

Why should anybody be on the market anyway? Crass commercialism has already invaded our lives far enough!

Do you know how bad I want to make an "Opening Pandora's Box" joke right now?

I won't, though. That's just rude...

Lately I've been addicted to a show called "12 Corazones." This is a Spanish language dating-game television show in the USA (it comes from Los Angeles).

One thing that I have noticed: the women obviously put a lot of effort into their appearance. Make-up, hairstyles, high-heel shoes, revealing clothing, generally designed with the objective of causing men to lose biological control, which can easily happen.

The men on the show, however, generally dress like slobs. They look like they are getting ready to clean the garage, rather than to impress a beautiful woman. Their shirt tales are almost always hanging out, and sometimes they even wear ripped clothing.

Each show begins with twice as many women as men, so the odds are always in the men's favour.

The show is explained here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/12_Corazones

Here is one example of what I'm talking about

You can see that the ladies are very attractively dressed. Some of the men are wearing blue jeans, and all have their shirt tales hanging out.

By the way, some of you folks who are in the dating market might like to try to appear on the show. The show is on 5 days per week, and they occasionally have a Gabacho (this is a Mexican term that refers to an English-speaking American, and the 'b' is pronounced as a 'v') who doesn't speak much Spanish, or a Gabacha (the female term). The Gabachos (and Gabachas) are very rarely voted out, and almost always end up finding their Corazon by the end.

So, maybe you guys should try to learn a little Spanish and get on the show. The gents wouldn't even have to get dressed up. Just remember to take a bath, put on something freshly laundered clothes at least, and remember to brush your teeth and use some mouthwash before the show, since you have to kiss at the end.

Hmm there are some interesting generalisations cropping up here.

Don't assume 'men like ____ hair' because as with above example, you can be that gorgeous red-haired chick our you could be Hilary. Same is true with long hair. It's all about how it looks on the PERSON it's ON. Just like you can't assume 'women like _____ brand of clothing on men'.

Just like with clothing styles themselves. Shirts look good on some, 'nice' t-shirts look good on others. There are some big do's and don'ts, (like wearing socks, flip-flips, board shorts and a shirt and tie all at the same time) but ultimately you have to do what enhances your own natural attributes Smile

Those men aren't dressed down as much as you may think. The whole untucked shirt thing is considered "in" right now for guys, and is acceptable for dressing up for younger men. It's a funny thing about the women, however. I know that in California, in some places, women are expected to dress in very revealing clothes. It's a culture shock for anyone if you aren't used to it. I'm from the south/midwest, and the most revealing clothes girls will wear here are short shorts and a tank.

For me, as an NT, I can say that I do understand the importance of well fitting clothes, or at elast clothes that make you feel good. I was also one of those kids who wore those pant and shirts that didn't fit or were waaay off when I was in middle school, and personally I couldn't wait until i could dress myself the way i wanted. So I like to look feminine and different. I never really liked preppy type of clothing; what I like on guys seems to be more of a skater look. Someone mentioned the "bad boy" appeal with the leather, I would equate my attraction for skater looking clothes on males to that. My Aspie boyfriend has this style, but it's much more relaxed- plain, well fitting shirt, jeans, skater shoes- looks good to me Razz .
